Hey every one, i have a 07 calais v with an l98, its due for its 90,000 service and i have been quoted $900+ at the local (kalgoorlie) holden and $770 at ultatune, ive been told by ultra tune that the sparkplugs are $30 each, which is $240 for the 8 of them but i can get a genuine service kit for a ls2 for $200. the kit has air and oil filters and spark plugs and leads. However the part numbers are different. does anyone know if its possible to use the ls2 stuff?
Cheers Morgan...
The L98 has the LS2 6L bottom end with different heads/intake
oil filter will be the same but I'm unsure of the sparkplugs as different heads need a different gap in the SP
the leads should be the same also
oil filter might be different. afaik LS1-LS2 etc use the same filter as a late model 5L (ryco Z160) i think the last of the vz's had L98's with the front sump that used the Z160 too, however the ve, rear sump L98 had a different oil filter with a wider thread.
i found this out while trying to find the right filter for a vs with L98 conversion i just got
VZ 6.0lt had the L76.. The LS2 uses L98 heads.. From the info I received the plugs should be fine. Only difference will possibly be the gap.. SO get them to regap them first.. There are equivilent iridium plugs available (NGK and BOSCH) From memory they are around the $20 each mark. Supercheap, Autoban or Repco.
