VE SV6 Sedan Boot Buzzing.. Anyone else having this problem??

Don't know why but lately every time I press the button to open the boot (on key or in glovebox) I get a loud buzzing noise.
First couple times the boot would even close but now it seems to, the only thing is the annoying noise.
Holden say its the attenuator and will cost $175 for the part and labour.. bit excessive you would think!

Anyone else had or have this issue??

are you just out of warranty? (08 model)

because if you are, maybe try and different dealer and see if they might fix it for you (sometimes it depends on dealer on whether they'll fix something like this out of warranty).
another option (if its only 'just' expired) is to contact holden hq and plead your case.

otherwise i'm sure there's a few parts you could grab from a wrecker that would suit. plenty of rear end damaged cars that may still have attenuator intact.

Yeah mate, the warranty finished in feb, so its not really like it 'just' ended. I doubt they will do it for free.. but i guess its worth a try.

The wrecker idea sounds like a good one though.
Im probably not the best candidate for electrical work but i could get my uncle to do it (hes a pretty handy man when it comes to cars).

Actuator, easy to change.
