So today I was leaving work as per usual, when I was casually waiting at the traffic lights.
All of a sudden the Alternator flashy light came on, suggesting to me the alternator has shit itself.
I bought my 2007 VE last year from a used car lot and was given a 12 month warranty.
Does this fall under warranty?
Also, what do I do?
My car knowledge stops at changing oil, and fuelling up.
I even once topped up wiper washer fluid...![]()
12month warranty is 12 month warranty.... you can only try and they can only say no.
Good luck...![]()
Yeah I might just ring them.
How long will my battery last? I cant get a day off for at least a week and a half...
Should last for a while if you aren't running headlights and amps etc. Just put it on charge at night. (like an electric car lol)
An alternator is not general wear and tear or maintenance therefore warranty should cover it
Good luck
So I got my lazy on tonight and decided Subway was for dinner.
Jumped in my car, started it up, and the alternator flashed for about 20 seconds after I took off.
Now it's off.
False alarm, maybe?
Do you have a multimeter? With the car running check the voltage across your bat. If it's about 14 the alternator is charging if it's about 12 it's probably not
Possibly a software issue where the ECU is overly sensitive to the alternator voltage rates and needlessly displays warnings. An update rectifies this.
Silver Certified.
I think to be on the safe side, I'll just ring up and they can sort it out.
Might as well while it's under warranty.
Teach those bastards to try and give me a 3 month warranty...
Might score a brand new alternator...![]()
Update fellas.
I was driving along the Western Ring Road (Fml.), just casually doing 75-80km, and I hear a beep.
Then 'ESC Disabled' (Or something along those lines) pops up, and then 'ESC Enabled'.
This makes me think it's a internal computer related issue.
Thoughts?
Could this be linked to my gas conversion 3 weeks ago?
