Miles better. Have had one of each. No comparison.

edit.. not thunders - but ute for ute - the VE is a massive improvement.

There is , it's called the SSV and it comes with better headlights , tail lights , better sound system. You don't get the dark rims though. Nor do you get the na na na na badge on the side lol.

    Cheers.

You forgot the most important part of the SSV..... the motor. No amount of "thunder" badges will trump that. Then you can sing na na na na right back at them

I drove past three of them parked up on the ramps, all SS versions and that was yesterday.

So there must be some around.

    Hi All,
I have a SS Thunder. Phantom Black. I found paint defects along the top of the side skirts where there was a rough edge on the mould. Now after only 1300kms it has developed an alternator fault. My headlights dim and get brighter as I rev plus can now hear a slight whine.
First Holden I have owned and I must say Im not too impressed so far.

I had similar paint defects, though mine were on the front bar under the headlights. Also had paint flaking from around the wheel arch section of the front bar. The bar was eventually resprayed under warranty.

only heard of early build ve's playing up.they will just swap it with another, could be just a loose batt terminal,etc.. or you've just got a dud,if it's an auto 1st gear makes a whine which is normal, but if it goes up and down with the revs yeah it's the alternator, most likely the condensor which is internal on them from memory
