Hey guys I was wondering if you know of anywhere that's got some decent tailshafts that can handle a bit more power than the stock one. Seems I managed to break mine with only a few minor mods (exhaust, Otr and tune) Holden wanna charge me nearly a grand for a standard one. So I figure I may aswell upgrade if it's only gonna happen again
Cmon guys really, nobody has any info on fabrication workshops even??
Should be able to get a tail shaft custom made for you for around $500. Try Spicers...
I'm having this argument as well. Although I did fork out $1300 only to find nothing wrong with it.
Consider this. If you buy a HSV and send it Walkinshaw, they can add superchargers and all the rest of their goodies. Do they upgrade the tailshaft when doing so. No. The reason "because you don't need to" - straight from Walkinshaw. If you broke yours with those mods (apart from cam similar to mine) then it should be a warranty issue. God the clutch is rated at 500hp so I don't see why the tailshaft wouldn't be engineered above the factory kw.
I have a mate with a 800hp VE and he is the only one I know with an aftermarket tailshaft.
You broke your tailshaft?
bahahaha
I doubt it...
There are 600rwkw cars thrashing around, with stock tailshafts...

Where did the standard shaft break?
On mine there is nothing wrong with the one they replaced. It has turned into a legal battle. They say my car produces too much HP (412rwhp) and that's why it broke. But it didn't break..... Hence why I have spoken to Walkinshaw etc
try another dealership or ring customer assistance - 2 weeks out should be good for at least a partial coverage.
Thought that might be the case. Is it a manual? This is a fairly common issue thats just starting to appear and seems far more prevalent in the Manual models. The issue isn't the power going through it as the slip joint is a rolled spline, and can handle a shitload of torque. The slip joint only gets greased once when the shaft is made and doesnt seem to retain lubrication very well causing it to wear out
This is what appeared to be the case with mine. The dealer replaced it quoting it was foobarred but a diff mechanic opened it up and found it wasn't lubricated. He then lubricated it and found it to be fine. Hence my battle
Yeah it is manual .. If they don't hold their lubrication very well is it possible to fit a grease nipple to the shaft?? I havent even looked to see if it's possible yet as I haven't pulled mine apart.
Also does anyone have the measurements of the shaft?? Is there a difference in length between the v6 and v8 shafts or are they the same?
