Hey guys, ive just had a cam put in my ute, vcm otr, twin 3" stainless exhaust and extractors,, getting 290rwkw. do u think is a decent figure for my mods
anyways dyno figure is just a number.....its how it drives, if it goes harder, sounds tougher, then thats all u need
yeah manual, sounds heaps great.. its not a huge cam still sounds good. but easy and smooth to drive
Mate I run a 224/230 cam, 2.5" exhaust, tuned length headers, FAST manifold and OTR and I got 308. I know guys with similar that got more and similar that got less. IMO 290 is probably slightly low but you cant be sure what parameters were set on the dyno. So many settings can affect the outcome.
At the end of the day seat of pants performance and enjoyment is where it's best
Yeah same cam as mine, i've been looking at fast manifolds. Yeah i just know my mates hasnt got a cam just mafless tune, otr and exhaust and hes got 285.. I guess like you said it all depends on the tune.
I wouldn't sweat it mate. Dyno figures can sometimes be entirely upto the operator.
If you can feel it goes hard, and it puts a smile on your face then what does a number mean?
I know that the dyno figure is mainly bragging rights to your mates, and if you're that worried you can take it to another dyno place and give it a run.
If you're chasing bragging rights, take it down to a strip. 1/4 times and 0-100kmph times don't lie.![]()
Cheers guys.. yeah im happy with it. So we'll see how it goes for a while![]()
i actually heard something interesting today, Steve from oztrack posted on fb saying that from experience, Commodores that have been driven harder (over 4k rpm on a regular basis) seem to make more power...must be like exercising, the more u train ur car the fitter and stronger it gets :P

Did you have a tune before the cam if so what did it make?
also who tuned it?
