Guys
Not sure what other people do but i decided to clean my filter on my VCM OTR intake after 10,000khs and it was filthy. I am going to change my statergy to do this every 5000khs after i seen the condition of it so if anyone else has one of these i would suggest you check/clean it if you have had it on for this amount of khs. Throttle responce was amazing after cleaning it(funny that)
Oh and be careful pulling the clips i had 2 pop out and fall into my bumper, its a pain to unbolt that front under gauard to get your hands in to retrieve the clips.
i was advised to do it every 7500, haven't done the first one yet though
5000 is a good distance. Depends where you're driving though. If it's very dusty conditions, you'll need to clean it more frequently.
500k's is good i did mine before each service
I do mine every 5000 (vcm mafless otr) when i do the oil and that, just driving around town up here, it wasnt even really dirty last time
I've had my vcm otr for a few months now and was wondering what the easiest way of cleaning the filter would be?
not sure if i can use water on the filter or not?
any advice greatly appreciated.
K&N cleaning kit - if you're using the filter that came with it - pretty sure VCM use K&N sourced filters for their OTRs
Thanx Tinny, sounds like a sunday arvo job with a few cold ones
you only have to oil one side- the exposed side obviously lol. ive seen guys oil both sides with the result being oil sucked into the plenum because its been over- oiled. you only need enough to stain it red (the oil colour) and dull out any sun light when you hold up towards the sun for example. and yes tinny they are k&n filters that vcm use. its actually a mercedes filter, just a bit of useless info there..
im out of my mind at the moment...please leave a message
