Instead of buying an underdrive pulley, is it possible to disconnect the A/C from the alternator to reduce the parasitic power wastage? Would this work the same as an underdrive pulley? Reason I ask is I don't think I've used A/C once in the past year (without it being an accident if you know what I mean).

That is one of the worst ideas i've heard, no offence.
Reason..... the amount it drains is minimul and not worth measuring,
plus not using your a/c will eventually root the compressor and the gas harming your resale, always use it at least once a week even if you don't want to.
An underdrive pulley reduces wear on those mentioned components by slowing down their rotation speed, hence helping the crank spin better.
