    Default Sportswagon SV6 II

    Hi,

I am about to pull the trigger on my first Commodore - it's a Sportswagon SV6 for the wife.

They are currently being advertised in the end of financial year sales as $41990 drive-away (includes the reversing camera). They are also advertising a 4-day sale from today until Saturday.

I'm not very good at buying cars (!) so I was hoping to get an idea what people would expect to pay for a Sportswagon SV6 (assume one of the metallic paints).

Just an idea would be great as I have no idea what the margins are like. Do they go lower than $41990? If so, how much lower is a reasonable price?

Thanks in advance for any advice.

    Cheers,
    OpticNerve

Thats wierd :S are you sure they said $41000? I bought my VE SV6 SEDAN for 38500 with extras. But the sv6 thunder utes are going for $35,000 and they have more extras, aswell as the sv6 sedans are going for $31,000!

Unless SportsWagens are more expensive HMMMMMM

    The sportswagons are more expensive.

The 4 day sale will get you a 5 year warranty.

I paid $43,000 drive away back in April 2011 (Ordered in March built March 2011)

    SV6 Auto Sports Wagon
    Voodoo Blue

    Options
    Reverse Camera
    Sat Nav
    Carpet Mats
    Boot liner
    Tinter windows
    SS Suspension & LSD
    Weathershields
    Met paint
3yr extended warranty free if servied at the dealership
Free loan car for first 2 services
    road side assist

They were running 2010 plates out cheaper, but i didnt want a car that was already percieved as 1yr old when i bought it.

I'm struggling to get much off the $41990 price. I'm hoping to get a Sportwagon SV6 with the rear camera and 5 year warranty "special" (no other options) for $40k.

What is the RRP for the Sat Nav?

    Cheers,

    My best advice is
You know when the dealer has hit rock bottom, when he is prepared to let you walk away, if not there is another $50 to be saved or a option to be added for free. But i only do this when i am ready to put a despoisit down. It also helps to have two or three separate dealers down to the same point, that way you can go back and forth. I just tell them i have to speak to the wife and then i ring another dealer and put the hard word on them.

    according to my invoice

    Car $41627.27
    Sat Nav $900
    Rev Cam $318
    FE2 & LSD $327
    Boot Liner $235.00
    Tints $ 540.0
    Paint $454
    Mats $134
    Weather Slim $ 147.80

Then less a discount as these are RRP and without GST

$990 inc GST for the satnav... Best value is to get a full sized alloy spare - $300 when you buy it with the car - $900 as a spare part!
Get the boot liner as a spare part - only $180 and takes like 3 seconds to install.

The problem is the way they do the pricing. It doesn't really allow the dealership to give you much money off the initial price of the car. They make money selling you options and aftercare.

    Thanks everyone.

Can the Sat Nav be added as an option later on or does it have to be ordered with the car?

It's cheaper to get it when the car is built at the factory. But I wouldn't bother, as its crap and expensive to update. Get a garmin
