Talking New VE SV6 II... opinion on wheel size and style

    hey guys
im new to this whole website although i been following some people with their progress and got a fair amount of info, i am buying a new car so i though i'd join up.

anyways, im getting the MY11 VE SV6 II, and i cant for the life of me decide on the size and style of the wheels.

the car is going to be in poison ivy, and i was thinking about 20s, though i dont want it to set me back too much, because im looking to swap the brand new factory 18 inch alloys.

i would greatly appreciate any opinions, or past experience, also if anyone has a VE SV6 with pics to put up, i'd also appreciate that greatly.

p.s if any one has advice in whether i should get leather or cloth interior...

    thanks guys

    20". All the way.

    Supersports. Advanti Tourers.

Interested in selling the standard tyres and wheels?

Yea definetly go 20's, don't go 22's they are to put it bluntly, "gay"
Well I know your on a budget, so I don't think the rims i'm thinking of are going to be suitable.

    However i'm really liking...
    - Vertini Magic
    - Breyton GTS
    - Simmons FR20's

    Just my 2 cents

Holden leather isn't the best - I'm not a fan at all - cloth isn't super either but it's durable.

Depending on the roads you will frequent, 20's are fine if all is smooth . But if you have any reason to travel outside of that comfort zone stick with the 18's.

And when it comes time to invest in new rubber, 18's will not make your wallet say ouch.

But like i said it's all dependent on where you drive the most.

20's look better, but then again looks are not everything either.

    Cheers.

The dealer I bought from (Suttons in Homebush) had a demo model on display that had what they called "Custom GTS Leather" which I ended up going for (see pic)

It's got a real nice feel to it, feels durable, and (IMO) looks awesome. They offered just about any colour combination you wanted too, but I went for two tone grey to match the interior/dash + Sizzle logo to match the body

Edit: It was ticketed at $300 more than the stock leather option, which I think I got them to ~halve during negotiations among other things.

I was just about to start a thread very similar to this, but you beat me to it, so cheers

my question is only a lil different....

needing to know pros and cons of 20"s vs. 22"s

ive got the style of rim i want, just need to decide which size, originally was going 20"s but last thing i want to do is buy them and then realise they look TOO small on the car, but i think 22"s have abit of a too big/wank factor to them.

let me know all your thoughts/experiences....

to me, 22s look silly. They're too big. 20s are ideal.

The other thing to consider is that 22s won't hold tyres with the right load rating, without going over the allowable 15mm rolling diameter variance.

20s hands down. Just changed my GTS' to Supersports and wouldnt go any smaller or larger suit the ute great when its nice and low. Heaps of tyres around, although i had to go 255/35/20 get the load rating legal

I just Upgraded my Series I SV6 to a Series II SV6 a month ago, and got the 19" Supersports, cause where i live im afraid if i got 20" they would get scratched from Rocks. I dont think it looks not too bad of a blend. Its still factory height, I didnt want it lowered. Great Height for an Outback town.

Mate best option would be 20s with abit of lowering.

20's = ideal.. i used to have 22s on my car.. not very practical and rough as guts, probably because they use an elastic band for tyres on the ve.. but im gonna have to disagree with tin about them looking silly.. heres an example on a fellow jc members car, and i think they look like sex!!!

thats pretty much the main thing, i dont want the car riding like shit, and im hoping 20"s dont alter the ride to much from the 18"s, but ye 22"s i could imagine its shithouse, and then theres the legalities, 4"s bigger then stock is illegal is it not? i dont know all the specifics.

well i think its a pretty clear cut vote for 20"s, dont think anyone has said go the 22"s, which suits me fine! now i just need the cash

I disaggree that ute looks silly, those rims are too big, they look good on the back but just strange on the front. 22's don't belong on 4x4's let alone cars.

I really like MetalPledge's ute - but I do think the wheels are too big - would definitely have looked better with those wheels in 20s, like on SYCO's sedan - and I won't go into my feelings on the walky bonnet. But it is a very tidy ute.

Edit. SYCO is no more. Try RUF-60L - I'll get that one day!
