hey everyone,
i have headers and new exhaust put onto my 2010 ve sv6 and now the engine light has been on, is it a easy fix from holden with the tech 2?
do you think it would be performing any different with the light on?
nope, had the same thing happen to mine...i rang the exhaust place and they said even the boss has been driving around with his on for months, doesnt do anything. when i got my car tuned a few months later they turned it off
There is no reason why the check engine light should be on unless you got your cats changed or they havent plugged everything thing in correctly . I also have a 2010 SV6 With Headers and Exhaust and i had a check engine light but i got it sorted out. Ensure that the Oxygen Sensor extension cables are plugged in correctly . The plugs can be rotated 180 degrees and plugged in the wrong way and it creates a intermittent signal which is what usually causes the check engine light to come on. Most exhaust places dont seem to know anything these days so dont listen to their boss. I know of atleast 3 people who had the Pacemaker system installed that had a check engine light caused by this.
The car will perform differant when the check engine light is on as the car will run rich. The SIDI Sv6 3.6 engine runs quite rich from factory and this wont be helping. The engine will actually make alittle more power if you lean them up abit especially during the winter months.
with the extractors on the sidi sv6 the oxygen sensor has to be extended cause its lower down in the piping ... The computer has a measured resistance in the cabling for the O2 sensor so when it gets extended the resistance changes. the computer thinks this is an air fuel problem and triggers the enigine light ... the only place i know that can fix this (other than holden) is castle hill exhaust in sydney. they claim to be the only ones that can do a tune on these computers ... and with the extractors cat and cat back system the say gains of up to 30 Kw ... thats what i have been told by like 5 different people anyway
Mace can tune the SIDI's too
thats good at least CHE arent the only ones
your car no longer needs a tech 2 as it is now OBD2
you can take it anywhere or buy the interface and do it yourself
sorry man but i have no idea what ur talking about can you please explain that in a bit more detail
NO tuning is required with the headers . I have the pacemakers with the oxygen sensor extension cables and i have no check engine light. I have fixed a mates car he had the sensors plugged in wrong i did that and reset the ecu via disconecting the battery and no problems.
Should be unrelated but my CV8 Monaro did the same thing although only temporarily. I had Pacemaker tri Ys fitted and about a month later the engine light came on for about a minute. Never saw it again. Puzzling.
Out of the blue my check engine light come on and stays on and every time I take my foot off the accelerator to slow down or brake the ESP turns itself off and when i reach a certain speed it turns itself back on again beeping the whole time it is doing it. Or just stays off for X amount of kms and turns itself back on again. I am at my wits end with this, the beeping is driving me insane and I have to have the music loud just to drown the noise out. It has been doing it for a while now and Holden told me that as long as the engine light is not blinking there is no real issue. Well the "no issue" my car slid out badly. Turning ESP off on the console makes no difference as it just beeps away and flashes anyway. As soon as I turn the car on check engine comes up on display and the light stays on. How do I fix this??
