Was going around a corner, off a set of lights. Totally forgot I had the auto in manual shift mode and went to the rev limiter.
Was fun though...
Any way to reset the computers revs record before going for a service at the dealer next week?
Wait...what?

You're giving most dealership service teams too much credit mate. You should count your lucky stars if they change the oil!

Yes it does.
I think you will find it's permanent exactly for this reason. That said, it'll only ever be a problem if you have a big warranty claim. The odd peak at the redline is nothing to worry about. If you had a systemic history of it and then a big driveline failure you will probably have some problems.* The dealer can access the engine revolution record when they service them?

I figured it might be, but just wanted to check.
Didn't want dealer going weird on me when having a go with the AFM lifter rattle at 13,000kms, and then have them trying to pretend it's a hard rev at 12,600kms that caused it.
Geez? What do you think you are driving, a 599GTB? It's a Commodore, your probably lucky that you have a rev limiters.
Pretty sure I was asking about the computer recording? Where you off to with that?
lol as i have extended waranty that was issued for free provided i service it at the dealer i was getting my car serviced at the dealer ... and not one of the mechanics there even new what the "engineering mode" menu was or how to reset engine oil life ... i actually had to show one what i was talking about and then he still had no idea
you will be fine i know a guy who was doing burnouts and going sideways up the street and blew the powersteering pump in his ss and it was covered by warranty and the dealership didnt say anything so you should be fine (he was also useing the manual shift)
Rev limiter is set to protect, if they think hitting the limiter has potential to cause damage they would lower the limit. That being said, it's possible to reset the record with a diagnostic toll, however if you were a mechanic would you prefer A: a few hits on the limiter or B: a record that's been cleared. Option B raises more questions.
Is this it?
Hope they don't check my tyre history........
Do you drive an auto? It clicks when your head nearly goes through the windscreen instead of into the head rest!! I've done it too....Taken off foot flat with a GTS up my arse and forgot I was in manual, I didn't know what happened!!!! It is ridiculous that the gear box shifts to 1st from second by its self in manual, but not the other way, it should shift at the last milisecond for that reason(in case someone forgets that they are in manual). It sometimes shifts down in manual just before you shift down and you end up a gear below what you were expecting, that sucks also....
Anyway like previous comments, the limiter is there for a reason, so I wouldn't worry, but I know how it feels when you do it expecting it to change gear and it doesn't!!!! IT feels like you have just blown the motor up!!!! It takes a few seconds to register....I have driven manuals all my life and this is my first auto, the whole manual shift thing feels weird when there is no clutch............it feels wrong my left foot seems to want to do something!!!!!!
Cant say Ive ever seen an option in Tech2 to recall driving history and Ive gone pretty deep into diagnostics. Only time the car records such information is when a DTC is logged ie revs, coolant temp, speed etc etc.
Silver Certified.
Ill get the tool and option from the menu and up date in a minute
Is this it?
meh... dont worry OP.
The rev limiter is there for a reason, to protect the engine in cases like this.
You didnt keep it at the rev limit for an extended period.... and it was an easily explainable 'accident'.
If serious damage could result from hitting the rev limiter, the limit would be lower!
Nothing to worry about mate.
