Question Need to borrow/ hire- harmonic balancer removing tool- brisbane

As the title states, I am in desperate need to borrow/ hire a ahrmonic balancer removing tool for the alloytec 6 spoke balancer.

I am currently in the process of replacing holdens famous timing chains.

I have tried a 3 claw puller, but have had no luck. It just dont wat to hole onto the rear of the balancer.

I need one like this.... G & G Technics Pty Ltd .. Innovative Automotive Tools & Equipment

But at $260, for a single use application, no thanks.

I have tried a google search and yellowpages but cant seem to find what I am looking

Can someone point me in the direction of where I can hire one?
If someone has one that they would lend me or pop over and give me a quick hand to remove, I would greatly appreciate it.
Would even like to hear from anyone with a miracle removal remedy....lol

    If anyone can help, thanks

    hey budd,

i have the same problem trying to get mine off but i think the best bet would be to put a strap onto the back of the balancer and get someone with a car to be in the drivers seat turn on the car and let go of the foot brake just do it softly and it should come off asap i think i will try this with my car and my wifes car also leave the bonnett closed when doing this

it may sound stupid but i'd say its worth a bloody try and if you do it softly then it should come off nicely

sounds a bit rough mate, got the balancer sorted, turns out a friend of my mother in laws friend works for the company that makes the tool. He was local to me (in Brisbane) and gladly came to my rescue.

I took mine to a mechanic and done everything just used his tool, he charged me nothing. Thats what you get for sending everyone you know to a good mechanic and gettting a good work relationship. Any old mechanic cant charged you to much....

he charged me $70 to drive an hour and remove it at my place, but I am located in Brisbane.

I have thought about buying the tool and hiring it out. Wouldnt take long to make my money back.

    the tool costs about $245.

OT- I bought all my timing chains etc and a new balancer from the states for $550 inc postage

How did it cost you nothing? did you claim it as broken or something and take it back?

05LVH, the machanic charged you 70 to take his tool and did it yourself? id be looking for a new mechanic.

my balancer would not budge. I used the exact same tool that you used mate. I have had the tool for many years and it has always helped me out. I snapped the adjusting rod clean in half trying to remove the balancer. apart from purchasing the tool for $245 paying someone $70 was a better option.

That special tool doesn't look that special, you could make something like that yourself if you had to.
