As the title states, I am in desperate need to borrow/ hire a ahrmonic balancer removing tool for the alloytec 6 spoke balancer.
I am currently in the process of replacing holdens famous timing chains.
I have tried a 3 claw puller, but have had no luck. It just dont wat to hole onto the rear of the balancer.
I need one like this.... G & G Technics Pty Ltd .. Innovative Automotive Tools & Equipment
But at $260, for a single use application, no thanks.
I have tried a google search and yellowpages but cant seem to find what I am looking
Can someone point me in the direction of where I can hire one?
If someone has one that they would lend me or pop over and give me a quick hand to remove, I would greatly appreciate it.
Would even like to hear from anyone with a miracle removal remedy....lol
If anyone can help, thanks
hey budd,
i have the same problem trying to get mine off but i think the best bet would be to put a strap onto the back of the balancer and get someone with a car to be in the drivers seat turn on the car and let go of the foot brake just do it softly and it should come off asap i think i will try this with my car and my wifes car also leave the bonnett closed when doing this
it may sound stupid but i'd say its worth a bloody tryand if you do it softly then it should come off nicely

sounds a bit rough mate, got the balancer sorted, turns out a friend of my mother in laws friend works for the company that makes the tool. He was local to me (in Brisbane) and gladly came to my rescue.
it was only a suggestion
what tool did you use and how much would it cost could you please pm me please
thanks mate.
he charged me $70 to drive an hour and remove it at my place, but I am located in Brisbane.
I have thought about buying the tool and hiring it out. Wouldnt take long to make my money back.
the tool costs about $245.
OT- I bought all my timing chains etc and a new balancer from the states for $550 inc postage
everyone listen up, Stanley Gear Puller - 3 Jaw, 150mm - Supercheap Auto Australia
with this tool you can get off any harmonic balancer![]()
it got mine off and it cost me nothing at all![]()
i said it worked but that i dont need it no more and i got my refund back 50 bux![]()
he charged me $70 to drive an hour to my place and he removed the balancer using the proper holden specified tool. Made the job look easy. On a Saturday morning
oh man he charged you mostly for the driving LOL
if i had my tool that i used i would have came down there and done it for 50 bux no more no less but only if i lived closed to ya,
05LVH, seriously dude you dont need no proper holden tool man, this one i used can get even the most hardest balancer's off man with ease![]()
honestly be smart and use your head when you know that you can do something like this for me and get away with ithaha supercheap LOL
my balancer would not budge. I used the exact same tool that you used mate. I have had the tool for many years and it has always helped me out. I snapped the adjusting rod clean in half trying to remove the balancer. apart from purchasing the tool for $245 paying someone $70 was a better option.
05LVH,
when i did this harmonic balance removal i kept the big black bolt inside the balancer and then put the pulley kit on and started turning the pin and got it out in 20 seconds mate, i was gonna say if your in melb man come pick me up and ill come to your place to try my best to help you out man
