It had to be done
Lock on my ute lid stopped working once, took it back to Holden under warranty. Thats the only problem I've had and it's on 75k (2008 SV6)
Kuzman's Supercharged SV6 - MACE TUNED
too many to list right now. When I get my new list compiled I'll copy and paste it here.
One of the rear window switches was stuffed from brand new, they replaced it at the 3K service. Hopefully thats the worst problem for a while, but I doubt it.
2006 Calais-V 6.0L
- Air box thing in the dash got a crack and leaked water throughout the floor of the car... Lovely mouldy smell for a while.
- Wiper filler hose cracked at the bend.
- O2 sensor failed.
- One time the radio system all shut down and would not come back on... Started working the next day and hasn't done it since
- The little dash screens that show l/100km, etc, the left one flashes white now and then. Just a quick millisecond flash that i notice in my peripheral vision while watching the road.
- Clunk in rear suspension which is a bush that's not worn enough to be evident to Tyrepower
- Broken engine mount
And that's in 9 months... But 2nd hand. 55,000km to 78,000km.
[edit] After reading other people's, I remembered more.
- Harmonic balancer replaced by dealer so I'd buy the car
- AC belt thrown off several times before I found out about the replacement bracket and belt.

Ive also had quite a alot, lol had less problems with my 10yr old vs ute
only had harmonic balancer replaced since i got it 2 2 years ago, and its an ex cop car, go figure :P
- Rear ABS/Stability loom
- Engine mounts
- Central locking wouldn't open (needed reprogramming)
- Air-con belt keeps coming off (on my 10th belt)
- Stereo screen has gone blank a few times
- back tyres scrub just as bad as my old IRS VS Statesman
- Both back speaker died
- Gear box has a really bad pause and slams back to third from sixth when not in sports mode and you stomp on the accelerator.
But as mentioned later on in this post it's still not major problems that would make me never buy a Holden again and I guess its a early model and at the time was a new model.

Yes I know, if you get anymore manly you are in danger of making yourself pregnant!
Drivers door Check Strap
Wiper Motor
Both Fog Lights (moisture)
Water logged carpets all the time. Holden dont have a clue whats going on, going back in soon to get the ENTIRE interior pulled out AGAIN so they can scratch there heads somemore......
Not long after I got my duel fuel Omega it stalled while going round a roundabout.
I think it was going through the transition phase of changing between petrol and gas.
It totally died.
I pulled over, flicked the switch back to petrol and it restarted.
Hasn't happened since but it sure was unnerving.
Sometimes now I manually change between petrol and gas when I'm going in a straight line, instead of leaving it to do it automatically.
I'll be sure to mention it to the dealer when the 25k service comes up.
I have had brake squeals, rattles all over the place, noisy seat, noisy auto trans (in my earlier Series 1) and a few minor things replaced under warranty. Quality and well built do not go together with the word "Holden".
Did it drip from under the dash on the passenger side of the car?? Mine does this when it rains and the car is stationary but when I am driving it does not drip.
Also unrelated note guys I need help and didn't want to start a new thread about it.... I have an Omega and this pathetic single disc CD player, not only is it crap but it scratches my CDs, I'd get less damage if I opened the door while I was driving and dragged my CDs on the road. Anyway rant over. I am lining up to buy the black 6 stacker and I am wondering if it will just plug right in the same and will it work correctly on my ugly little green screen at the top?

Fuel gauge (5 times taken to holden, still no closer to fixing)
Few rattles
Had the centre console storage bin door replaced because it wouldn't close. The passenger side vanity mirror lights were flickering whenever they were on so I got that replaced, and I had to get the harmonic balancer replaced as well. This is on my 2006 calais V8 sedan.

I'm driving around now with the ABS, esp, check engine alarms coming up every time i start it, this is the 4th time in less than 20,000 kilometres, no doubt just a sensor, so i just reset 'em and keep driving until i get the time to get 'em looked at.
A rattle in the dash somewhere on the drivers side as well, not much, but yea, i have less hassles with my 24 year old Landcruiser Ute.
I've never been poor, just broke
air con compressor replaced after one week of ownership (brand new ute)
bonnet replaced at the same time due to over enthusiastic spot buffing at factory
both seat "flip" mechanism's replaced
pass side dash rattle fixed, trim replaced
drivers seat foam bolster replaced -collapsed
drivers seat bottom cloth trim replaced-bodgy stitch job done when bolster replaced
driver side exterior sill trim re mounted, half of mounting points broken off from factory
drivers side door re-aligned, not done properly from factory
dirt in paint, ''too bad''
pass side sill inside between rear wheel arch and door where 'ss' badge is located on the exterior full of mud and crap-need to take liner out to see it, I STRONGLY RECOMMEND ALL UTE OWNERS CHECK THIS AREA as ive since seen 2 more utes with the same problem, theres gunna be some rust ridden VE utes in a few years for sure
and of course the obligitory lifter rattle that LS engines have, dont care, going to turf the GM rubbish soon anyway
thats it for now
im out of my mind at the moment...please leave a message
ive had the drivers side door lock/actuator replaced due to not turning off radio.
Ill post one for my brothers SV6. Faulty steering rack replaced under warranty, the dealer said he was very lucky because it could have let go at any time. Aside from that no issues in 75k
Sorry but I hate this thread. I started reading it last night and now I'm in two minds on whether I should have spent a heap of hard earned dollars on my modern SSV marvel.
I've had it since the end of March and I was just starting to warm to SSV's charm. Don't get me wrong, I like the car and so far nothing has really gone wrong. Sure the car took a bit of adjusting (mostly of doors and tailgate) to get them to open/close and align properly but that's about it.
However, I do feel that Holden's refinement has suffered some what over the years and I must say that I am surprised that some basic design faults have crept through (possibly under the nose of Holden's bean counters) into a modern car.
Here's my impressions:
The front end creaks and noises should not be there. My 200 K VT has a quieter front end. The VE noises are probably not a big deal, but why are they not being addressed properly?
I couldn't wait to get a SSV with a 6 speed auto. After driving one in daily suburban life, I'm thinking that the 4 speed auto was maybe a good thing. The 6 speed is great for smooth open road driving. Around town and in traffic, its shocking. Its indicisive of gear selection at low speeds and can cause an uncomfortable lag that ultimately makes the driver compensate with the right foot with the result being a lurch forward when you don't want it. Maybe this trans habit can be refined out but it should be like that in a modern car.
I always wanted a SSV with leather seats... maybe I still do just not the series 2 ones. The leather grade is verging on faux leather (if not actual). Its stiff, badly stitched and doesn't hold its shape. The leather on mine is loose and baggy on the seat cushion which is uncomfortable and looks $hit. The seats themselves are acceptable after you find a comfortable adjustment combination. I think that this is result of more corners being cut to save a buck.
I showed my seats to well known leather trimmer in SYD (that actually does warranty work for dealers) and they said its not fixable with the standard cover. He didn't say it but you could tell what he was thinking... crap leather.
So there ya go. I said this thread makes me feel sick, so I just spewed![]()
VE II SS-V Sportwagon
