    Default VE2 Exhaust

Ok, I see in some threads there is reference to the exhaust note of the VE2 V8 manuals and autos being different...but I haven't read anywhere what the actual difference is that makes the different note.

So, dies anyone know exactly what is in the exhausts that make them sound different??

You've answered your own question. The difference depends on auto or manual.

from what i understand the auto has the potential to drone more so that the manual.

It might have something to do with the AFM on the autos too.

No..I didn't answer my own question as I know there is something different about the exhaust and the question was what?

But anyway, if anyone is interested I spoke with my local parts guy and he tells me that there are different part numbers for every component in the exhaust system except for the headers. So basically, the exhaust system in the auto's are completely different (all the way through) to the manual. And yes, that's no doubt because the AFM is enabled in the auto.

It's got nothing to do with the transmission.....so lets not get into a "whats better" thread. As above, according to Holden the Series 2 V8 exhaust system is different between the auto and manual in every way except the headers. How they are different....and how that leeds to a better sound from the manual....I'm not sure about but do know that every exhaust part in the auto has a different part number when comparing it to the same part in the manual. I'm sure it has something to do with Holden to minimise the potential of drone from the AFM enabled auto' but would sure like to know "HOW" they are different??

Likely that the Auto's centre muffler is different, will have a small section of flex pipe and have rear mufflers that are the same construction as the V6 units to kill the noise and vibration when that god-awful AFM kicks in.

Get the AFM turned off when you get it tuned?

Anyone know how an exhaust system sounds in an SS auto sportswagon?? I really want one, but worried that being a wagon, more prone to drone?

I do a Manta system that doesn't drone, but no guarantee with AFM. Hotdogs in the centre and straight through quad tipped rear mufflers. $1050 shipped to anywhere in Aus.
