Hey all
Having a bit of a problem with my 2008 VE SSV ute atm just wondering if anyone here has heard/had the same problem
Basically it does it warm or cold, you put the key in and start makes a few clicks tries to start then stops, then engine imoblised comes up on the screen usually u pull they key out and try again it works, sometimes also you start it, it makes a click then starts
Now ive got a brand new bigger heavy duty batt put in and a brand new key, which i though they would have fixed it
I just got off the phone to Holden they think it may have something to do with the BCM its booked in for thursday, just wondering what your thoughs on what it might be
Ive also had the starter checked they said its fine, and if it was that wouldnt it play up everytime i start it? ive also had my alternator checked working perfectly fine
Apprecaite any help lads, Cheers![]()
I haven't had this problem, but the only help i can think of is mabey ring a few auto electrics companies and see if they have had anyone come in with a VE with the same problem, could also be the immobiliser but that's just a guess.
I doubt it, well from what I've read it doesn't seem likely that a mafless tune would but again thats just a guess from what I've read.
You could ring your tuner and ask he would probably be the best person to ask.
Yeah that's what I thought, mafless tune would probably only effect the ECU where as the BCM would have more to do with the lights, locks, power windows, electrics etc.
i had the same problem it turned out to be my new key. wasnt programmed right. . got it redone and never had the problem again.
Mate I will post a video of what I think your talking about... lemme know if its it..
9:02PM EDIT: Ok I have found the file..

i still feel its could be the key need reprogramming. both ones. immobilisers is linked to the keys. going by what Holden told me.
Mate I had the larger battery installed and the charge rate increase (Via TECH2 - Set to POLICE MODE for charging) which got rid of it. I didn't notice immobilised come up as I was out of the car when starting it. Those clicking sounds you hear are me turning the key... lol...
What I found was if I kept the charge up regularly to the battery it wouldn't do it. That video is where I was using the OEM (small 450cca) battery with a new reprogrammed key, it would start by only doing it every now and then to what you see in the video...
When I changed over it would only do it a couple of times. Then when I had the charge rate increased it hasn't done it since. But I also have completely brand new key (no bits from the old one). I think it could be a bit both issues (lower than normal voltage and key remote).
If you put a bigger capacity battery in you should have the charge rate adjusted to compensate for it. Mines a 600cca battery (same as the one in the WH)

Oh ok the clicking noise i meant was the 2nd time u tried to start it it just clicked, i think mines a 500cca if i remember corretly, i also got a totally brand new key reporgammed, even if i go for a hour or so drive come home the next day it will still do it, so im not sure if mines a charging problem
I will update this thread once i find out thursday from holden what the problem is, ill also tell them hex about raising the charge, cheers![]()

Shouldn't holden cover the starter motor under warrenty?
The warrenty for it ran out in feb![]()
