hey fellas,
just wondering if the sat nav that's standard in the ss and/or the ssv models can be bought?
and would it be able to be fitted to a sv6?
cheers
Is there a reason for wanting the factory unit.
This topic has been covered heaps. Simply, the VE factory system is rubbish. You're better off with a $300 tom-tom or the like
I just wanted to know about the factory unit because it looks neater than aftermarket
I didn't think they'd be that bad? haha
Can be done. I paid $130 for my 6 stacker ssv headunit. Will need to be reprogrammed to remove the Security lockout ~ $150. You will also need the facia surround and dash strips.
Crackers01 where did you get the headunit i have only Seen them for around 500? Thanks
I bought mine from a swap meet from a guy who was wrecking a SSV. They pop up every now and then.
gee, good price. I have seen them over the $1000. From what I understand its everything to do with the satnav itself that is expensive. My point came from heaps of threads about this same topic where they say it is not very good to use.
I understand wanting the factory look. Have a look at JHP. They make a piece of trim that houses a satnav
JHP Vehicle Enhancements - Specialise in Holden Monaro and Commodore Spoilers, Body Kits, Tyre and Wheel Packages.
Problem with this is you may have to change some other trim as well
what a load of crap the sat nav is great. Its the poor people that say its crap because they didnt want to spend the cash getting it and now wish they did!
The expensive part is getting the upgrade cd approx 400 from dealer.
Ah no, the factory sat nav is terrible, and for the price of it you can get aftermarket touch screen nav fitted that looks factory and works 100 times better.
It's people that did get it and got ripped off that think it's good.
TELLING IT HOW IT IS SINCE 1982
mine was free......
and i think its great better than having the poor man windscreen mounted GPS.
No problems and is very accurate the only thing is it not touch screen but it is ok to enter the data when you get used to it.
Look everyone is buying the S2 for the stereo and INTEGRATED GPS.
Unless going for the poor man pack no one wants to have the gps hanging off the windscreen and cables everywhere.
I've had my ssV Redline for a week now, I'm quite impressed with the IQ system, It does everything I want and hasn't given me any problems at all, I'm using an iPhone 4 with it and it works a treat. Its had the IQ upgrade installed. Overall I'm surprised at how good this car is, hope it stays that way.
I'm not going to bother putting a SSV 6 stacker in mine. So if anyone wants one pm me.
The Factory Sat Nav Hardware is great, its the software that is rubbish.
Little features like using the odo, and the inbuilt compass to guess your location if there is no GPS coverage is fantastic if your in the city.
Also the Sat Nav prompts on the Cluster are fantastic as well.
The Software layout on the other hand...
Anyway, a non Colour LCD Factory Sat Nav went for $600 on eBay late last year.
Included everything except the screen interface for the colour screen.
Which meant you needed to set it up using the steering wheel controls, and the LCD screen on the cluster.
