my 2008 VE SS is just out of warranty by a few weeks, it's rear brake sensor has been playing up for a while though and after its latest service it looks like the sump gasket is stuffed too (they suspected a problem with it at the previous service, just confirmed at the last one, handbook services with ultratune). Reckon Holden will fix these issues as they were present while the warranty was still there or will they tell me tough luck? Will be contacting them next week anyway...
Never know your luck if the problem was diagnosed before warranty they might do it.
Welcome to the internet where people have opinions that you might not like
if it is on record before the wnty ran out, and it is a wnty item, then they should fix it no problem.
I doubt the gasket will be covered unles you've done bugger all kms.
Yep.... as already said, because it was a documented issue prior to warranty expiry you shouldnt have an issue.
When I took the car and this list into them this morning, (They didn't seem too impressed)
Do you think I went too far or is this reasonable?
Your opinions appreciated...
Tuesday-5th-July-2011 Please Check the Following Under The Holden Warranty
1. Wind blowing through front door seals (The top of the drivers door can be seen moving in and out away from the body on bumpy roads, this could also apply to passengers door) Lack of passengers…
2. Strange INTERMITTENT knocking noise underneath 5 or 6 knocks that can be supplely felt through drive train… (Mostly after start up when turning right) ONCE there was a loud click followed by a ratcheting noise similar to CV noise or collapsed bearing???
3. CD player (Head Unit)
4. Clunk in rear end (Possibly Bushes?)
5. Possibly Universal JNT’s or DIFF a little worn as it’s a bit slappy/clunky through gear changes??? ALSO has a droning wine when cruising (Gearbox or Diff???)
6. Rear Brake (LED Light in rear window) has some blown LED’s
7. Brake pedal seems a little spongy? Please check any warranty stuff here…
8. Please Check all Engine Gearbox Mounts
9. Engine belt pulley’s seem a little noisy?
10. Please inspect all bushes front & rear
I heard (but haven't seen it) about a tech bulletin issued regarding sump leaks on the V8's. Apparently its directed at the AFM engines only but non-AFM's are seeing it too. I would talk to your dealer about warranty as the problem was around during the period your car was warranty covered.

Glad I'm not the mechanic trying to work this wish list.
Its best if you take the tech for a ride and show him what you are hearing/noticing. There not going to spend hours trying to make something show its ugly head. Some of it might be known issues which they can deal with but #2 & 5 would be asking a bit much, IMO.

Thumpin: I'm pick'n up what you're putt'n down, "Poor Techies & Mechanics" However if I don't say anything then how will they know to look? + warranty will be done and dusted soon in less than 12 months so needed this stuff documented now so they have something to refer to incase of future problems...
Can you offer suggestions as to how I should have handled it? (That's a genuine question and NOT meant to be a wise crack)
It's not my intention to piss anyone off, more just want to dot the i's & + the t's

Are you saying that Ultra tune did all the services or just the last one? If they have done all of them you should have reported it before the warranty ran out (If thats the case I'd say no) but if it is as most people here are assuming (Holden serviced) then you might have a chance depending on how you handle it.

Yes I know, if you get anymore manly you are in danger of making yourself pregnant!
Generally the faults need to be reported TO Holden while under warranty to be covered beyond the warranty expiry period. Being diagnosed by Ultratune wont count for much I imagine.
1. Common issue is people hanging off the door to get in and out and it gets bent out of shape.
2. Front suspension knock can be a lack of spring insulators, worn swaybar D bushes or collapsed strut top bushes.
3. Whats the issue?
4. Rear end clunks fairly uncommon in VEs
5. Backlash is common
6. The LED strip is rep[laced as it cant be repaired
7. May need a good bleed
8. Engine mounts do fail not uncommon
9. Any signs of coolant leak? P/S pulley may be out of alignment or it may just need new belts.
10. Refer to 2
Dont like your chances of getting any of it fixed for free personally.
Silver Certified.
Two different guys telling their stories here. Sounds like Velocity has another 12 months warranty left to sort his issues out.
Ok - lets start with item 3: What about the head unit?
Item 6: should be a warranty repair
Items 7,8&10: Your mechanic should check all these during regular servicing
All the rest sound very much like a car that has had the wheels thrashed off it from the start and/or been in a major shunt. You *may* get some of them under warranty but it has a lot to do with how sympathetic your dealer/GM area rep is.
