Hey Guys,
So as some of you may know I just got a new VE Sedan. Only noticed the next day that instead of an OTR CAI they'd only installed this LINK.
So I called the dealer 2 days ago, he sounded quite shocked and had no idea that the tuners had done that. Spoke to him again today, the tuners are now basically playing the "yeah well it was an honest mistake, and anyway he got everything for a really good price so should be happy with what he got" line.
I completely understand it's not the dealer's fault, they've been cool about everything, but I definitely won't be getting any further work done with the tuning house they use.
So anyways, I still want to do an OTR & tune, I've got an Xforce 2.5 catback. Can anybody recommend a good tuner in the Sydney inner west area?
I also would like to know how Holden would view me sticking on an OTR, would be engine warranty be screwed?
go oztrack at penrith!its not inner west i know but still
they work in conjunction with Duspeed OTRs, good guys
although, Duspeed are mafless only i think, so that might be a problem with warranty, but still talk to Oztrack about tuning
as for ur question about an OTR voiding ur engine warranty, not enitrely sure sorry
yes oz track are good ... shame they cant tune the SIDI SV6 yet ...
as for you waranty ... if holden can directly link a faulty engine to a OTRCAI or a Tune (or any other mod) than no you wont have a waranty ... even if the guy the dealer had gone with had got it right ... With the tune, as it increases power, and therefor load on your drivetrain you can have waranty issues there to ... i personally would wait 6 - 12 months after buying a new car so that anything that might #### up does and is fixed under waranty.
There are some stories on here about people that have bought brand new cars and they have had things #### out on them already ... i bought a brand new SV6 and have already replaced the tail shaft with less than 25000 Ks on it ... Ask Tinsnips about all his gearboxes ...
Im not saying dont modify it ... or why else would you be on this forum ... im just saying wait and see for 6 months ... you might regret getting it tuned
Hey sway, was the OTR or other mods noted on the dealers invoice for the car....... if so they have to supply whats been invoiced
Unfortunately not buddy. Initially it was just going to be the exhaust, the OTR was something I asked them to do at a later stage in the process.
In hindsight I should have had the salesman add that on the invoice. Oh well, I may just have to chalk this up to experience. Will probably just leave the car as is an get it done at a little later stage.
Good tuner in Sydney inner west = Marranos
Marranos Enhancement Division - LS1/LS2/L76/L98/LS3/LS7 & European Performance and servicing Specialists
+1 for Marranos. They are located at Croydon on the Strand. Sonny and the boys do a great job as do the other that get a mention in this and other threads.
It all comes down to where you are prepared to travel to and who you have think (after speaking to a few good shops - do this first to discuss your needs etc) you think you feel comfortable with. You won't go wrong. Ask the questions, then make you decision on what you hear them recommend for you.
BTW: Marranos did my OTR (Orssom), 2.5' XForce system and headers and tune a couple of years back.....big smile still. Goes back this week for a few other bits and bobs....(evil grin on face).
Good luck.
Front wheel drive cars are the work of the Devil.
Just out of curiosity, why are alot of people going with OTR? Instead of behind the headlight. Like airhammer
Is it a warranty thing?
OTR flows better.

Oww really? I always thought the behind the headlight was better, and gets more cold air.
OTR gets fresh air direct form the grille opening. Behind the headlight is just that - the headlight restricts / blocks the airflow.
pfft i thought it was normal to have one headlight, atleast it is in WA anyway.
Ok, it's a shame I asked MACE about OTR but they don't do one for SV6 alloytech
The V6 cai's haven't been made yet afaik.

I think I'm just going to get the airhammer and manifold insulators
I've heard before about someone putting on OTR on an SV6 but it didn't work out very well. I can't remember if it lost power or didn't make as much of a difference as an airhammer but definitely wasn't effective like on a V8.
Airhammer and manifold insultors are the way to go IMO
I can't wait. Getting that stuff and finishing the exhaust. I'm getting hurricane full system from extractors.
I already have the mufflers.
Hopefully should get a nice power boost once it's all done.
Generally par for the course once the deal has been sealed, the dealer is off to pursue other punters, not follow up on your order. This is because he gets no credit (money/otherwise) for helping you out.
The whole reason if there are any extras/special orders that I specify that part numbers be written down on the contract for sale.
Ok I think I may have noticed something else today. I was standing at the back of my car looking at the exhaust tips, I decided to measure the diameter of them. I make them to be 3 inches, not the 2.5 inch system I payed for.
So for my clarification, when the sizes 2.5 inch, 3 inch etc is quoted, does that mean the diameter at the tips?
