im looking to purchase a set of rims soon ive pretty much narrowed it down to these 3,
cant decide
what do you boys reckon?
cheers
What size you getting and how much you wanna spend , ssv wheels are 19", gts come in different sizes as do the tourers.
Alot of commodores are getting around with these styles, no offence to you guys that have them as they look good but i prefer to be different, but my personal choice if this is all i could choose between would be the black gts.
TELLING IT HOW IT IS SINCE 1982
SSV's are 19". GTS only come 20" genuine (wouldnt get fakes) Tourers in 20" or 22". Some colour coded tourers always look good
Black GTS has my vote. I've seen Advanti Tourers on plenty of Commodores & Falcons, and as of today a Mazda 3. I realise there are plenty of Commodores sporting GTS wheels, but they look hot.
Saw a pair of these on a black SS sedan today in Dulwich Hill, looked outstanding!
yeah as soon as i posted that i thought i should have said sizes
dont want to go bigger than 20s hey
yeah even before i got my car i wanted to get gts in black, but could never find any decent ones for sale
did you buy yours brand new jake?
caz_sidi i got mine 2nd hand off ebay and powercoated them satin black but just sold them to my brother for black supersports.
Bradbd youll find 20 inch tyres are cheaper than 19s most of the time
+1 for SSV MATTE BLACK!!!
Too many ppl with GTS'S & SuperSports!! Havent seen SSV's in Matte Black around ! They're friggn Awesome![]()
those ssvs do look pretty awesome haha
wake jake:
how much did it all end up costing?
Rims $1800 Rash fix up/powercoat $500 Tyres $800
yeah i think ive narrowed it down to the ssvs or the gts's
just got my ####ing Rego the other day so might have to wait a bit longer
would going 30mm in the front and 50mm in the rear sit alright on 20s?
and I was just wondering also has anybody here used pedders springs and how do they rate them?
Personal experience.
I had gloss black GTS rims and they were copies. They were fine. They were painted two-pack. I went gloss and this paint system because it means I could use normal polish and car cleaning products. Copies are fine. If you can get them
I have a mate who has matte black rims and they kind of look dirty but I admit he has massive brakes which produce heaps of dust. They were painted as well. My new rims are powdercoated matte black and they seem to be pretty good for staying clean.
Rim choice will be yours ultimately
picking up a set of genuine black gts's on Thursday, pretty keen
will the standard wheel nuts work with them?
i just got tourers last week, pretty happy with themlooks really tough
however i am driving an sv6 sidi so it makes my brakes look really small
Unfortunately for you I am a chrome and badge man. You can never have too much chrome or badges I say on a classic car, so the whole matt black mag wheel look that is all the rage right now and bound to fad in the near future when holden makes them standard on some models is not my thing. But hat's off to you for wanting to join the revolution and go in that direction. Out of the three the black gts wheels are pretty smick. Congrats
^^^ any chrome other than an exhaust tip (or four - and even that is pushing it) is too much chrome. It's a horrible product that belongs on ugly harleys and uglier old yank cars.
I might be a touch opinionated though.
maybe.
Gloss black SSVs ftw.
edit. But I see you've ordered the GTS wheels. They'll be fine. Just make sure they're gloss - particularly if you're taking the painted option. Bonner's powder coated wheels will be almost bullet proof (I say almost, because apparently they aren't as tough as the local car wash) but you can essentially clean them with anything.
