am interested in a ipad mount including all equip needed. and wireless adapter. or does anyone know of someone who will make a ipad mount and all needed to just fit to my VE SV6. i was going to buy the Calais head unit with the hvac unit and have it fitted. cost about $1700. but might be cheaper to get a ipad mount would get more use from this.
thanks members..
hi mate, what part of melbourne are you from? i might be able to help out with the ipad mount, fabrication
do you have a spare dash facia? what are you after?
I'd be interested too
me tooipad is sitting around just doing work related stuff.
I've got a spare facia.
im interested too just abit closer to the end of the year :P
Me too, I'd be very interested in an ipad mount, especially one that could fold flat into the space where the centre speaker is mounted in the dash.
i know alot of fab work is done in fiberglass, fairly easy to mould, bog, sand, bog, sand, paint. I've been doing a bit of plastic welding and repairs, and would be fabricating using plastic.
i've repaired some bike fairings and welded a cracked bumper but nothing as yet to this degree of skill. unfortunately i've always thought about taking pictures after i've repaired them, so no before and after shots.
i am pedantic and a bit of a perfectionist, am offering to fab the first one for free if you supply the fascia
Hey mate,
Having done this, it is a great mod and the ipad can do heaps HOWEVER if you think you are going to save money this is not true.
IPAD $600 ish + depending if you want gps to work
HVAC $450
Cables $100
Rear Aux $30
Fascia At least a couple of hundred for custom work. $400
Dash command programs $59
As you can see the costs add up but hey go for it if you can.
One thing to note for people wanting the Fascia is heat control (IPAD getting to hot) there needs to be enough room between the ipad and whatever you are using as a backing plate. When mine is complete i will try and get some better pics but yeah keep this is mind.
Hey Guys,
Ok, I have been in talk with some companies to make this as a plastic mould for the fascia and mount.
It will have the same look as your factory radio (same dimensions, Top Lip etc).
It will attach to the head unit using the 4 same clips the original headunit does.
What i need to know is what people would be willing to pay for something like this.
Im not looking to make any profit off this however making a mould for liquid injection is pretty expensive and i dont want to lose $1000's if no one wants one.
When i finish doing it up in Auto CAD i will put a model of it up here.
Cheers guys.
Hells yes Westy27 that would be incredible!!!!!! I think the upper limit for just the facia plate would be around the $250 mark depending on quality and appearance. Also would this fit all VE's or just series 1? and what models? Omega SS Caprice?

Plan is to fit all Series Ones. Would not be any market i would think in the series 2 at the moment to justify a mould being made.
Ok mate that works for me
Just another thing to keep in mind the iPad 2 is at least half way through its product life

Yeah, thats why i want to make sure there is a little bit of demand off the bat as i will prob only do 1 or 2 batches of them.
If so put me on the list mate, I'm real keen to see this happen.
This would be unreal

If you had it set up like that ^^^ There would not be much of a mould to make.

Just found your vidLooks sick, how do you still have media controls? is your head unit behind the iPad?

Headunit is still behind. This fascia will clip into the headunit. All that is removed is the Old fascia.
That is cool, if it was linked with this it would be even better
