    Default Injector cleaner for SIDI

My car's only done 10 000 k's and I'm thinking of trying to keep the injectors clean by occasional bottle of engine cleaner. Every 10 000km's or so

I like to use Liqui Molly products so I'm thinking of that

Any thoughts whether it's ok running it in sidi engine and what other brands seem to work for you ?

I agree with kuzman89. run some 98 through it. I've been told from a few people to stay away from all those additives.

    seconded.

the next time you know you are going on a long drive, buy some good fuel and it'll do the same job when the engine gets really hot. 2 hours on the hwy will burn away whatever little crap is in there.

but you've only done 10,000km so the chances of sludge build up already is next to nil (unless you constantly fill up with dodgy fuel).

If you're running clean fuel, like BP ultimate, the injectors should be pretty clean anyway.

Any crap in the tank shouldn't be a problem, your fuel filter should catch it. But if you let the fuel get too low, you risk the fuel pump sucking air and damaging it.

Put about 50mls of BioDiesel in the fuel tank when you fill it up
It will strip any deposits off the injectors

Crap in the tank is a thing of the past. With modern plastic tanks you dont get corrosion and fuel is filtered pretty well at the pump before it goes into your tank.

Fuel does degrade over time and lose octane rating but not over a couple of weeks.

I always run my tank to empty and have had no issues over 170,000kms.

I always try to fill up before I hit a 1/4 tank. Topping up continuosly, or letting car get to a 1/4 tank makes no difference. As RiCeY pointed out, fuel does degrade over time but not enough to worry about in just a couple of weeks.

Read this interesting article below. I found it while I was researching regarding fuel in tanks and how long until it affects performance etc.

    Very interesting reading. Especially for guys who have high powered or even standard cars which only get driven on weekends and have a tank of fuel last 3 or 4 months or longer;

Does petrol/gas have a use by date, or can it be stored for years? | Answerbag

HoldenOnn: thankyou for that informative link.
I haven't run my VE (3.0 L SIDI) to dry yet, but I don't expect any trouble if I do, subject to having a full jerry-can nearby.
I ran my VZ (3.6 L) dry several times. After putting the jerry-can in, and putting the can, etc, back in the boot, the VZ started instantly every time:
electric fuel pumps are a great idea, I reckon.
The theory about sludge, accumulated dust &/or condensed moisture, or whatever, has been around for a long time. But, there are two responses -
never let your tank get low; or
empty it completely every once in a while, so that the crud doesn't build up.
For many years, I've worked on the "empty it completely" premise.
The problem with the VE is that I got 840 km out of a tankful, WITHOUT running empty (Coffs Harbour to Canberra), and I like the idea of not taking a jerry-can with me on future trips. A dilemma, I suppose ...

In the VY I always fill up when it's down to about 1/4 tank (roughly every two weeks usually)
I only use Caltex Vortex 95 and use Nulon injector cleaner every 3,000 k's approx.
Never had any issues with the Nulon and odomoter is on 144,000.
This is an Ecotec, though, not SIDI.
'Ah well, I suppose it had to come to this.'
