Bought a WM Caprice a couple of weeks ago, in very good condition, has never had a major hit. Some twirp in a Rodeo just rear ended it today while my wife was waiting at a T junction to give way to traffic. Damage isn't too bad (had a BIG Hayman Reece towbar fitted), but it will need a new tail light, new rear bumper, and someone who can colour match well!
Grumble grumble grumble.....................
Dude that sucks, sorry to hear, your wife wasn't too shook up was she?
Hope it all gets sorted out painlessly dude.
As long as everyone is ok mate...nothing worse then road fatalities![]()
Have a good look around the towbar mounts as it may have damaged the chassis, even look along futher as the impact may have traveled up the chassis and bent the weakest link.
The colour match on VE bumpers to rear quarters isnt spectacular to begin with
Glad to hear everybodies ok, that's the main thing.

Glad everyone is ok.
Ow, Troy, yours was a nasty one! Ours looks like being around $1500 to $2k, but I've got comprehensive, and the other driver has third party (and is 100% to blame), so I'll just let the insurance companies work out the money side of things. My policy has choice of repairer, so I'm taking it to a good one - they painted my show car quite a few years ago, and they know how to colour match.
Thanks everyone for your concern - the wife is OK, and our two young kids who were in the back seat at the time are OK too. One of the reasons we decided on a WM was more safety for the kids - I just didn't think I'd be testing it so soon!
I feel your pain mate D***Head P Plater in 4wd hits our statesman
OW! Just went and had a read through your thread. I hope you and the missus are now all OK.
Not that I'm having a go at P platers, but I am now a bit nervous of P Platers in Rodeos! A few years ago, my wife and I were driving in Canberra in a Nissan 300ZX twin turbo. We were T boned dead centre by a P plater in a Rodeo who came off a highway exit ramp, drove straight through the stop sign at the T junction at the end of the ramp, across two lanes of traffic, and still managed to bullseye us even though I saw him coming and snuck into a break in the centre median. That one was a $10k repair bill.
A few years later, - rear ended by a P plater in a Rodeo again. Might have to reprogram the parking sensors to detect Rodeos![]()
accidents happen buddy. i hope everyone is ok.
There is nothing wrong with having 4wd on our roads its the people behind them that kills.
As for P platers having a 4wd i say good on them they got to start learning somewhere just because they got their P plates dont mean they know how to drive in either a commodore or a 4wd.
Hey make shore you get who ever is going to fix it to check the boot floor a friend of mine got rear ended by a little four cylinder he had a tow bar as well at first it didn't appear much damage the boot lid still shut just bumper damage.
The beaters he took it found once they took the rear bumper off that the boot floor need to be replaced and one of the exhaust pipes as it was bent up near the Cat.
The new floor had to be made by Holden took almost 3 months by the time my mate got his car back.
