hey boys,
gave the local walkinshaw shop a call today to find out if they could do a power pack on my ute
turns out they can do it, but since ive already got a growler kit he said he could do it for around $1450 for 2 1/4" xforce cat back and a tune
and he said it would probably produce around 18 more kw
just wondering if its reasonable ?
cheers
Don't go Xforce.
Welcome to the internet where people have opinions that you might not like
he said that hes got a sidi going in there at the end of the month and i can come and have a listen to see how i like it
are they that bad?
Comes down to personel preferance i suppose. I would suggest meeting up with someone who has the Xforce and listening to their car and maybe going for a ride in to see how it sounds . It would be cheaper to buy the xforce and get it installed from a exhaust shop as they will have a lower hourly rate than the mechanics from Walkinshaw . Im not sure about the tuning though as Walkinshaw use VCM or HP tuners and neither of those companies have tunes for the SIDI engines yet and will probably be a while before Australian tuners can buy credits for them.
As far as I know only Castle Hill Exhausts and Mace Engineering have any ability to tune the SIDI engines at the moment in Australia . Mace do a postal tune that apparently is very reasonably priced and people have seen some good results.
I have a SV6 ute with sidi and I also have SS Induction Growler CAI , I got my car dynoed after every mod and I got the best results from ditching the standard headers and going to the pacemaker ones instead .
old mate reckons there the only walkinshaw shop that does it hey, so pacemaker have made headers for it? i keep hearing different things, a local exhaust shop rang pacemaker and they said they hadnt developed them yet
and he said that the xforce doesnt sound that bad will be interesting to hear it, whats a decent brand?
if i do like it might get some paceys on it before i go ahead
how much did they gain? do you have the link by any chance?

well dont know what they were on about then haha
My Original Pre Pacemaker figure was 154rwkw and it jumped to 167rwkw after the pacemakers . I had both dyno runs done at Walkinshaw Ormeau and they arnt tuning SIDI's yet . Ive gone to High Flow Cats and a hightec 2.5inch cat back off a mates SS and i made 178rwkw untuned . Ive had my car dyno run at Walkinshaw at Ormeau and a place at Nerang and they both had the same power figures.
My power pack cat back is Perry not Xforce.
HM/Perry headers, CATS and 2.5 " exhaust.

yeah he said they only use xforce on the sv6 because its easier to fitt and apparently its a good note,
id like to hear a sv6 with a perry on it
but then again arnt the exhaust on the sv6 and the ss the same shape anyway? :S
Send Rusty411 a PM - he has a perry on his, but I haven't seen him around much recently.
If you can find an orphan exhaust system off say a HSV Maloo, at least it very likely not to drone at all and work well given your application.
Another option I guess
Cheers,
Steve

now they did a before and after tune with the before tune i already had the cai but the figures were 153.4 atw before and 180.2 after not bad gain i thought
wayy ahead of you tinsips haha did it before i read your post ha
steve would you be able to pick one up from?
astroham:
that sounds pretty good hey
you wouldnt have a video of it would you?
wouldnt mind hearing it![]()
no vid as of yet ... but if you live around the western sydney area ... ie penrith pm me and i will bring it over ... videos never sound right anyway
theres nothing even wrong with the xforce system, just dodgy supplier/fitters.
naah im from newcastle dude
like 2 hours from penrith haha
18KW....there is more in it than that. I just got a tune update from MACE with the TCM changes (and some fine tuning after recording some running logs) I requested. I've been playing with the Dashcommand software utilising the OBD-II interface hardware that I purchased from MACE with the tune (bonus usage). Is very interesting...the software will calculate max RWKW and NM based on certain base data such as curb weight, fuel level (weight), final drive ratios etc etc. Anyway to cut a long story short it calculated 205RWKW at 6130RPM and 340RWNM at about 5200RPM....and supposedly if you get your input correct (which I think I have) then that figure should be +/-5% correct. I'm waiting on a few more things and then I'll stick it on a local dyno and see if it is close. So to recap that is possibly 205RWKW on a N/A V6 with bolt-ons and a tune....go the SIDI and the tune it's cracker.

Can only really be able to pick them up would second hand through performance exhaust shops or through ebay or other forums
hsv exhaust | eBay
Australian LS1 and Holden Forums
Out of all of the systems available it will definitely be the least likely to drone compared to any other kit, plus they are usually very cheap when you consider that they are made from stainless steel, locally (?)
In saying this though though if you wanted a new HSV "copy" you could contact perry exhaust, who make the systems for HSV so that might be another option depending on price.
Hope this helps

Steve

Its funny that Walkinshaw say they have a power package for the sidi motor.. I was at the melb motor the other week and they had a walky stand there, so i wondered over and politely asked the fella there if there was a power pack available from them to which he replied without looking at me NO! that was his answer. To my reply I'm sure a performance company such as yourself would have something in the works or such, his response was "cant get a tune"... Fair enough I said i'll give MACE a call and walked off. (which I haven't done as of yet)![]()
LOL....just had another look at the Dashcommand data and it is a bit all over the shop as the lappy is to slow to grab all the info so I think it is interpreting info based on intermittant data....booo. Will try some different hardware....got a bit to excited there![]()
haha i got Rusty into buying the perry exhaust, but i think he only got the mufflers.
Anyways this is how my perry catback sounds like: ‪sv6 2008 with perry exhaust system‬‏ - YouTube
