    Default VE Air deflector fins

Haven't really seen this covered at all. but what are peoples opinions on these:

SS INDUCTIONS AIR DEFLECTOR FINS COMMODORE VZ VE (eBay item 320647708985 end time 24-Jul-11 21:53:01 AEST) : Cars, Bikes, Boats

Gives it a bit of a sportier look...but is it ricey, I'm still undecided.

One of the members on here had these on his car - I think it was vessme.

    ...But yeah, not a fan.

...give a great sporty look and reduce drag & turbulence at the rear of the vehicle.
    Pfft - my arse!

Just got back from the Townsville 400 V* Supercars and I didn't see one on any of the V8 supercars, GT's, or the Development Series V8's. Surely they would be using them. i think its is purely cosmetic. If you like the look, go for it.

I'd say they'd have some sort of effect as Tinny said they're used on factory EVO's but lets be honest like any of the wank factory SV6/SSV/HSV spoilers/body kits really do anything either other than visual effects?
    I think they look alright.

also, they go on in two pieces. And the worst part is not that they go on in two pieces but that the join is not in the middle of the car.....

Like them or not they do work!

If setup correctly will yield reductions in fuel consumption at higher speeds (say over 80k's) and greater top speed (under controlled conditioned LOL)

I'm probably going to have the piss taken out of me for saying this but have wanted to develop something like this to replace a conventional spoiler (in addition to having one on the roof). Would love to put one on a 1/4 mile car too!

Sure they do make the air more turbulent, however it's "good" turbulence, as it allows the air to wrap around sharp changing shapes creating less net drag. It's the same reason golf balls have dimples on them, because they travel further then when they're completely smooth

Here is a research paper, Mitsubishi engineers put into developing the evo fins

    http://www.mitsubishi-motors.com/cor...004/16E_03.pdf

I'm not sure how well the ssinductions ones work, but if done properly they definitely do work

Ok, not you - sorry mate.

I'm getting mixed up. I can picture his car, just can't think of his forum name. It's the dude with the red VE SS with black track stripes and various other ricey bits on it..
