Hey Guys,
I am a proud new owner of a MY10 SV6 (3.6 SIDI) and have a question regarding the Holden CANBUS system.
I'm looking at purchasing a H7 HID Kit for my VE however I have heard conflicting information that I might get an error code due to the CANBUS system. Is this true? Have any of you VE owners had any issues with HID kits?
I have seen the "all-in-one" VE HID kits at ezihid.com.au however I can get a H7 6000K HID kit for 1/4 of the price delivered thats why im wondering how they will work with Holden's CANBUS system.
Please feel free to comment.
Regards,
Sarkis
They'll be fine.
No problems with them in mine at all
Thanks for the reply guys!
Troy - I know the reflective headlights weren't designed to house HID lights however I needd to have white and bright lights... I have tried various halogen bulbs from ebay cheapies to Philips Diamond Vision however none of them compare to HID. Any suddgestions?
Also the ezihid ones are more exspensive due to their convenience. Having balasts hanging off ya engine bay is just haggard as...these integrated balasts and plug and play wiring is well worth the extra coin.
I personally can't wait to order the full kit to slip into my new DRL headlights. The 55w high beam is incredible for those country roads.
I dont want to start changing the head lights as the car is still pretty much new.
Has anyone heard of or used HIR Bulbs?
ZEN HIR replacement bulbs
These are meant to produce approx 2300Lm of light (75% of HID's) and are 4300K
I installed aftermarket HID's in mine and you have to go looking for the ballasts, they are well hidden, yet still accessible.
I changed the fuses to 20A from 15A as I have done before and they worked first go.
Current Ride: 2011 VE Sedan - In Voodoo of course.
Last Ride: 2004 Subaru Liberty GT, Twin scroll turbo, tuned, Bilsteins, sway bars, no rice, 420Nm
Also Own: 1964 EH Wagon, modified interior, minor modifications outside
If decide to go HID, ill probably end up purchasing the HID kits (same as ezihid) from AE International (eBay seller) $139 - Low beam and $129 - foggies
6000K HID low beam + HID Foggies
OEM Halogen vs HID 6000K
HOWEVER
I will be looking in to some halogen alternatives first possible the OSRAM Rallye 65W H7's...
Can anyone comment on the HIR Bulbs?
Yeh I've been looking at his too, although he doesn't have the 55w high beams. But will prob get lows and fogs off him for the price saving.
Yea there is a huge saving...
Ezihid.com.au has the VE kit on "special"for $380.00
- H7 HID 6000K
- H11 HID 6000K
= $190.00 each unit
Where as AE International
H7 HID 6000K = $139.00
H11 HID 6000K = $129.00
You can get H9 55w 6000K HID kits with Digital AC balasts on ebay for $80 for the high beams.
I am still considering the OSRAM Ralle 65W bulbs...
I have the AE International low beam kit had it for 3 weeks no problems yet so far fairly impressed with them
I've just always had longevity issues with vibrations when screwed to the bodywork.
I'll grab a pic of where I put mine - just secured with 100kmh tapetapes black and Sonia engine bay so doesn't really notice and had no issues.
Yea looking forward to the pics.. Some night pics showing road illumination would be great if possible![]()
Hey guys i have done a 55w HID XENON BALLAST conversion my ute this is a link to it. Pics include night time snaps.

The other option is to get 55w HID Xenon Gas Bulbs, but i dont know how they would go with on coming cars. Cause of the bright white light it produces.
Theres alot of crap bulbs on ebay claiming to be xenon gas filled however I dont know the quality of them. I was reading up on HIR globes.. they seem to be the next best thing to HID's but then again might as well go HID with the stock headlamps
