Anyone got the good oil on suspension. I've just got myself the redline ss ute & am thinking more cornering goodness, like lots. Am not looking for a pissing comp, just want to know what you guys think about to be the best performance set-up in suspenders from our local shops?cheers.
A lot of people rave about upgrading the sway bars. I've gone with Nolathane bushes throughout. Check out my ride thread (link below, last page of the thread) for what I've done and my opinion.
Pedders xa coilovers, superpro void bushes & bigger swaybars front & back.
^ +1
Greg knows his suspension!
Pedders are shit, never go to them for anything!
Defiantly speak to Greg from GSL he knows his stuff!! He gives great service, good advice and NO BULL.

Thanks for the replies people. Pedders extreme coilovers look good. I'm after performance for fast road & the odd trackday if I go to the suspension I'm swaying towards Drummond or Tein at the mo. Was hoping for some info from people that have done the swap & what their comparisons & opinions are, cheers.
Hi bzr, i am going for a Bilstein kit Front and rear mono tube gas struts and rear shocks and H & R springs (germany)
I had a Golf GTi ages ago and fitted a Bilstein kit and it made a BIG difference to cornering ability and roadholding
I am just hoping my SV6 ute has the same effect
Its costing about $1,850 supply only
One vote for Tein, Japan made, dad has a set in hes ssv ute. I had a good look before installing them and they were awesome quality, really really nice, seem to handle very well, have only been in a couple of times.
There is no such thing as stupid questions, Only stupid people.
Absolutely run with DMS if you have the coin - overkill for a predominantly daily driver though. Otherwise +1 for Billies.
I have the DMS 40mm's fitted to my car and can vouch that they are very good quality and give a lot of confidence into corners if set up right.

Considering that my old suspension setup was stuffed (Monroe shocks leaking oil) it was an improvement in every way possible haha
Lets see:
* Over bumps it takes the initial hit a bit harder than my old setup, but not in an extremely harsh way (hard to explain) and before you know it you feel the wheels are planted back onto the road. Small bumps are very noticeable just driving on a road you will feel the car jumping up and down ever so slightly, because of this the first time you drive your car, you expect to break your back when you hit a large bump, but you are surprised as it feels smooth over the larger bumps (again hard to explain).
* Tyre wear is shit but that's my fault as I got more negative camber put into the front when they were installed, I have a series 1 VT so the back tires don't last long as well lol.
* Rear wheels used to spin all the time but that was with not as good tires, I now run Pirelli Pzero nero's on my car and get minimal wheel spin, I also have an open diff which doesn't help, soon to be a LSD.
* About 8 months ago I had a swaybar link pin break, I didn't notice it was broken until I went to service my car. I had driven it hard on a certain road that day and it felt fine, I did not notice one bit of abnormal body roll in my car that day or any previously, it was as if the pin was not broken and the swaybar was still doing what it's needed to do. I have read before that Greg from GSL has previously run a Hyundai Excel rally car with no swaybars as the DMS's eliminated nearly all the body roll of the car.
* When I jack my car up from the front or the rear jacking points, my car lifts both wheels off the ground of the side I'm jacking up.
With 30 bump & rebound adjustments you can find the right setup for your liking.
Speak to Greg as he looked after me with the DMS's.
Hope this helps, if you have any other questions I can try to answer them for you.
Cheers
Glenn

Thanks, yep, tells me some good things. To all, please, this is not a pissing match, I'm trying to get good positive info from people that have upgraded their suspension & what their thoughts are, if you don't like something I don't want to know. Your own experiences would be appreciated, not your mothers, brothers, uncles dad or what he said, thanks & have a good one, cheers.
I've got bilstein shocks and H&R springs in my ute and a larger rear sway bar, handles really nice in the corners.
What was the cost all up & was it a huge improvement over stock? Cheers jim.
Compared to stock, it's a very nice change.
The shocks and springs were $1990 fitted by VCM/Autotechnique, the sway bar I got free from a mate.
VCM currently have a special on their suspension,
Autotechnique - VCM Suite - VCM Performance - Harrop - Process West
How much do lower is it with the H & R springs BigJim ?
I'm fitting the Bilsteins/H & R springs myself tomorrow.
I can't actually remember, I think it was 30mm all round.
I can drop it a little more in the rear, but haven't got around to it.
Thanks for the info One more question for you Does it maintain the stance of the standard ute with the rear being higher than the front ?
You know a larger gap between the tyre to wheel arch on the rear compared to the front gap ?
I don't know exactly what brand but there is a set of coilovers to avoid as the have a tendency to snap. I'm sure someone here can post more details.
I have had DMS on my track car for years.... I can't express how much I love these things.
They arent the cheapest option you can get and most definitely overkill on a daily driver, but they are bloody awesome.
