Default IQ Upgrade and Screen Colour

I read on another forum that when you go in to get the upgrade done on the IQ system you can actually have the screen changed to blue instead of the red. Does anyone know if this is true or am I getting excited over nothing?

Would look better blue for me seeing my car is blue

No idea but I agree regarding the colour, I think the blue screen would look nicer. I'm actually surprised you can't customise the look of the IQ system, like with a wallpaper etc.

Wow, does look much better. I'm willing to bet that calais' or higher class models may have the blue screen cos it's in the advertisement on youtube as well, but if we go in and ask for it they'll say it's not an available update. I may be wrong through, fingers crossed...

    It would definitely be do-able.

I had the screen on my Series 1 headunit changed to blue by No Limit Electronics for about $100. I'm sure you could change the Series 2 screen colour as well - possibly even by Holden.

Holden is Holden, I'd say they wouldn't just because you didn't up spec your car!

I'll keep you posted.....car isn't booked in for the upgrade until September. Maybe if someone else is going in for the same upgrade they could ask the question.

Yep... but more likely because they don't know how or can't be bothered!

Only the SV6, SS & SSV get the red dash colour. You can get the colour changed by replacing the backlit LEDs or something like that.

Check the ASR forum in the sponsored section.

I sat in a Calais the other night and I didn't like the blue. The red looks better (you just can't read it).

^^ Funny that - I find the red hard to read & the blue is fine!

Also, my colour wasn't changed by replacing any LED's - it was done electronically by plugging in a scan tool / computer into the headunit.

I'm pretty sure there are no backlight LED's in the head unit displays any more - maybe you're thinking of changing the colour of the dash cluster lights?

    Hi there,
Had my upgrade done yesterday in my VE SSV wagon. I started the car and to my surprise the screen is now blue?! When I hit the map button it has a red background...
Not sure if I like it, I will ask if I can get it changed back as I am going in again this coming Tuesday, if anyone is interested.

The colour of the iq background can be changed to red or blue. During the software upgrade the computer asks what colour trim the car has and sets the colour accordingly, you can enter the trim corresponding to the colour you want to change it to from factory setting.

Looks like they entered the correct trim when doing the radio and the wrong trim when doing the satnav or vice versa.

I went and had my 3000 service yesterday, they upgraded my IQ and after I left I noticed my Sat Nav doesn't exist anymore! So they're fixing it for me tomorrow, gonna see if the guy can load the blue for me..

I had mine upgraded at the 3k service (this was in June) and it stayed red. I definitely don't want the blue system, everything else in my car is red so it's all nice and colour coordinated

Mine was blue from day 1. I think the whole skin is quite dated and quite disappointing. Any tuner/audio guy who manages to crack it and put some decent graphics into it would do quite well IMO.

    Lame.

Went back to Holden service this morning, and after a 3 hour wait I was told that my IQ system had died, and they would need to order a replacement for me. So will have to go back AGAIN and wait ANOTHER 3 or 4 hours for the job to be done.

So I'm cruising around at the moment with no radio or AC.

    WIN!!!

sorry to dredge up an old thread.

there seems to be a lot of guys who can get stuff done at No Limits in Melbourne and other places in Sydney etc (like VIM installs, colour changes to head units etc). Has anybody in Brisbane found a decent person to do this stuff?

This is an old thread, about half way thru last year there was an option to having blue or red on the iq system when your car went in for a service, factory standard is now red, as blue is linked to Ford (shivers...)
Some people lie so much they begin to believe there own bullshit.
