Hey all,
I have ebay ssv tail lights and they look pink!!!
To fix this i was thinking of replacing the bulbs with red LED lights but i have a problem.... the stock bulbs have 2 filaments and I'm struggling to find LEDs that have this duel function. Any suggestions?

Led's won't have a visible 'dual component' but they will still work
Thanks for that Xonar :-)
Oh and brgsv6 how would a LED achieve this effect?

Dose anyone know the name/model of light used as the break bulb?

Find out what the bulb type is. eg symmetrical pins, or offset pins, and dual contacts, single contacts etc. Then go hunting. I always use the site superbrightleds.com
I haven't done my brake, reverse or indicator lights, but I have done everything else on my car with bulbs from this company. Always remember to match the led bulb colour to the same as the lens colour that its going into.
Here is a link for the bulbs that will be the brightest etc, but you need to check your bulb type;

How do the new bulbs look?
I have just ordered my LED bulbs for my VZ Calais. They are also the 1157 base but I got the brightest available, although they cost quite a bit more. Link below;

Have you got pics of your lights before and after?
It is a little hard to show but yes they look much better, conventional in left LED in the right
It looks like your new lights will blind the gods!!!

Nice work. It's good to see that you are happy with the outcome.
I have been wanting to do a rear tail light conversion to LED for a while. Was waiting for a decent bulb to come out. I will post some pics up when I receive my set from America.
I am not necessarily after more intense light, although it most likely will be more intense/brighter, but I want a vivid red tail/brake light and not a slight pink light which it is now, which is due to UV light fading the lenses ever so slightly over the life of the car.
Anyone else doing this conversion, also make sure you do the same and use the same LED bulb colour as the lens which its going behind.

aww thats cool cant see much but noticable![]()
I have just done my rear end LED bulb conversion on the tail/brake lights and the reverse lights. The globes I purchased were from superbrightleds.com
These are the brightest globes available. I have to say that the original slightly red faded lenses with yellow bulbs that give off a slightly pink tinge is totally gone. The new bulbs are absolutely amazing. They are maybe slightly brighter although very similar in light output, but they are so vividly red and give perfect illumination throughout entire light.
I also did the reverse lights. These are just as amazing. For those wanting the most light at the rear when reversing for such a small outlay of money, then I would recommend these bulbs. Not only are they bright, but the pure white light compared to the original yellow is amazing.
My whole car from the inside to the outside is all but fully converted from old yellow bulbs to high powered LED/SMD bulbs.
I did take some pics when I had only done one side at the rear, but the camera really does lie and does not give a true indication of change. So I won't post any pics.
All I will do is post a link to the bulbs that I got and say that everyone should get them.

$24.95 each bulb and approx $40 postage to me in WA.
Make sure you choose the red bulbs for the tail/brake lights in the red lenses, and in clear reverse lenses, choose the cool white.
Any questions for me as to exact bulb or any LED question in commodores then just ask. I have done alot of testing and have learnt alot.
Regards
Matt
For those who requested pics from me, here they are. Pics of lights can be deceiving. If the camera lens is left open slightly longer, then if leads you to believe the lights are brighter than they are. This is why I have posted a few below so you can see the difference mainly in the colour and not necessarily the brightness.
The right hand side (in every picture) has been modified with the new LED stop/tail light bulb and also the reverse bulb. Also the high rise brake light has a red LED installed;
