Default 6lt - has anyone converted to gas?

    Hi.

Has anyone had their 6lt V8 converted to gas? How is the engine going? I've heard that converting to gas shortens engine life (dramatically). If I wasn't clocking up so many kms the thought wouldn't even cross my mind.

I have a 2008 SSV wagon and if I do convert to gas will have the doughnut tank installed. I also hear the place to take it is AG autogas conversions in Lillydale Victoria. Would appreciate your feedback.

    Thanks.

    Steve.

if u get the system that starts on petrol and changes over gas once the engine is warm is good. i used to drive on gas all week and drive on petrol one day a week only put premuim fuel and not full tank bcoz its just extra weight that u dont need always had a bar n half of fuel n full tank gas. if u follow that u should be fine.

so in short form ur car starts on fuel change to gas is good enough to keep the engine running fine plus the holden guys wen they service ur car have to put oil for gas cars. i just like driving on petrol on sundays just to take extra care of my enigne.

ps the reason of running petrol is once its starts is bcoz u dont want the fuel lines drying up n not working happened to a falcon my dad used to own bcoz he ran it on gas for to long petrol had to be drained and he had to get a few things changed very expensive

    Cool

    Hi
Yes I have converted my SSV 6lt to Liquid Injection , just over 12months ago and have done about 50k since and I think it is great and you notice every time you fill her up for about 25 to 30 dollars. There are severa thread in this fourm and just search gas. the reason that you must be thinking about it is the cost of running a V8. another way is look at the taxis , how many miles do they do, and how many are on the road and would it be plyable if they where running on petrol. a food for thought

Thanks for all your feedback. The main reason wanting to go gas is actually the kms I'm doing. Have moved to the country and am doing alot of kms now. My previous car was a vp berlina wagon. I'm getting better economy from the SSV, 570kms to the tank as opposed to 450 from the vp berlina. So it really is about the penny while still enjoying the ride (which I surely am!!!)

Have started looking at different systems, if you can offer some systems, brands, locations that would be appreciated. Am living west of Melbourne.

    Thanks

My car as converted to JTG injection by APS in Frankston and Frank has always been very helpful, ad for the car it's cheap to run and makes 10rwk's on the dyno!

Liquid injection is the only way for these. As mentioned above, you have the benifit of cheaper to fill plus they make more power at the wheels.
