hey all,
i had a pacemaker system put into my 2010 sv6 sidi about 2 months ago, without highflow cats.. As soon as i drove it, the check engine light came up. i was told if i get it tuned it can be turned off.. Sure enough i got the tune all loaded, and it still came back. I told the tuner but he thinks i have to get new o2 sensor. But i took it to my local mechanic, he thinks the light is on because the oil from the headers are on the sensor, and i should wait a month or so till they burn off?. does this sound right or should i take it to holden because its pissing me off.
cheers
I would just take it to Holden to get codes read and cleared. Not sure how much they charge just to do this
I reckon it's your o2 sensors....just drive for another week or so and then go change them you should be good. Also go to someone with a tech2 so they can find the exact fault for you, anyone besides Holden.
Can I ask who put the pacies on and did they use the extended sensor leads? Your tuner should also be able to check and clear fault codes.
i had pacemakers installed last week with standard cats...
No engine light on my SV6...
If you used the tune from Mace, you can read fault codes with the programmer, and delete fault codes if necessary.
remove the positive on the battery for 2 mins it should reset it but if it comes back go to the tuner or go holden
I'm a boy who appreciates a good body, regardless of the make.
Yeah I used that tune from mace to clear the codes but it just comes back, I got my exhaust done by exhaust brothers in north Geelong
What fault codes were coming up? Maybe the O2 sensors have died...?
Have you spoken to Steve at Mace?
Did they use the extended sensor cables? Take it back to the exhaust shop and have them check. I've had no lights with mine... I reckon it's an installation issue.
Steve said to replace them, it will go into holden on wednesday to see what the hell Is going on
same thing happened to my ss after a tune, it turned out to be something about the software and flashing it. I suggest you contact VCM, they sorted it out for my mechanic
VCM dont know s%4t bout SIDI's it is most likely the installation . Get them to check that the O2 Sensor extention cables are plugged in the right way . They will plug in either way but if there on the wrong way round it causes a low voltage reading which sets off the check engine light. You can probably do it yourself they have a clip on one side and a little plastic nub to hold it in place . If its the way the plugs are plugged in they wont be able to turn if off even with the tune unless they turn off the sensors completely which you dont wanna do. I know like 4 guys that put the pacies on that had this exact problem. THey paid about 200 for holden to clear the codes , forked out for 2 OS sensors which they never needed and it still comes up. Just check they are plugged in the right way.If they reset with the tech 2 iot might look good and the code wont come up staight away but after a few kms it will come back on.
it definately sounds like an install issue there are to many people on here that have had it done with no problems ... i wouldn't think it would be oil ... but i have heard somewhere that it is possible to connect the O2 sensor backwards and that it brings up the fault ... i would take it back to the shop
it should just the 2 from the headers yeah that i should be checking?
as he said, i had a similar experience after HID engine light came on and once i fixed issue it stays on until u either disc/reconnect battery OR if u have 2 memory keys by using the other key it wipes all the warnings so make sure to try one of these two options because even if the problem fixes itself it seems that the light stays on until a reset is performed sometimes!
The tune that we supply disables the O2 sensors after the cats (upon request), which measure cat efficiency. Cat effciency often goes way down when aftermarket cats are used.
We could disable the O2 sensors before the cats, however it's HIGHLY not recommended, unless a high octane leaded fuel is used on a consistent basis. Fortunately they don't not need to be disabled on cars running on unleaded fuel, even with aftermarket exhaust manifolds (extractors)
Long story short, the O2 sensor fault code should not come up if the O2 sensors before the cats are in good working or or have been installed correctly. The latter I wasn't really familiar with in regards to O2 sensor patch looms being installed the correct way etc.
I've had another customer raise the issue with us recently and after reviewing his logs with the 02 fault code there was no O2 data so their tune couldn't be touched up![]()

the codes are P0135 Heater performance bank 1, P0030 Heater control circuit bank 1 , P0134 Circuit insufficient activity bank 1, P0151 Circuit low voltage bank 2
those are the o2 sensor heaters so they are pluged in wrong as the ecu cant seen anything from the heaters
oh yea if you run cold sensors it ####s the sensors as they are zirconium tiped
Ok if they are plugged in wrong, how do I check and where do I look?
could be any thing im just saying most likley the plugs are wrong might be wired incorect take back to installer and ream his ass
hey all, quick update, i took it to holden today to see if they can pick whats going on. they seem to think the exhaust place needs to change the O2 sensor to ones that trick the computer into thinking the exhaust is stock. And also saying the sensors arent getting hot enough, i took it to the exhaust place they moved some of the sensors around but didnt do anything..... WASTE OF MY TIME!.... So i called them help saying i want my money back and my stock exhaust put back on, so they are in contact with pacemaker atm to try see if theres a way around this. fingers crossed, i want to get rid of this pacemaker system and go for xforce, i dont like the sound of this pacemaker system!
That's a shame mate.
The xforce exhaust on the SIDI doesn't sound to bad.
i think you should ring an exhaust shop that has installed headers on a SIDI and sucessfully had no Error message light up,
i live in melbourne so the mob who did mine arnt much help but i do know that as already mentioned the sensors can be installed the wrong way around and that can cause the light to come on.
My car has never lit up since i have driven it, and im crossing fingers it doesnt. if they are exhaust specialists they should have their own contacts and be able to sort this out.
i have a SIDI with an x force catback zorst mated to stock cats with pacemaker headers and i dont see how changing the cat back zorst would help in anyway, would just end up being a waste of time and more money!
hold your breath mate, maybe someone like Castle hill performance can help, they can do some pretty impressive stuff with the SIDI's from what i have read on this forum.
