I'm going to be getting a 2.5" stainless system put on my Calais V 6l soon but yet to find a system that sounds good and has some nice tips that fill up the bumper cutouts properly. I love the walky tips but ain't paying the $995 I've been quoted just for the mufflers.
So has anyone put custom tips on their off-the-shelf exhaust system?
Cheers
3.5 inch tips are about as big as you can go with the commodores (I think the standard SS tip is around 3 inches or slightly under). The E2/E3 rear bars can take 4 inch tips, I believe. Most aftermarket systems come standard with 3 inch tips but you can get the larger diameter ones fitted (presumably at your cost).
These aren't mine (but I'd love them to be
Twin 3 inch Monaro tips. Banks was fitting them to his SSZ ute.
if I'm thinking of the right SSZ, that's a lot of work to go to for 'fake' tips!!! But looks great!
I really wanted a set on my Stato... couldn't justify the price of the 4 tips plus fabrication though haha.
This is where I got my exhaust done. I went with the 3.5 inch tips shown in the pictures, it fills the the rear bar nicely.
Holden Exhausts - VE 6.0,6.2, SS,SSV,HSV##
KPM 2.5" exhaust which has 3.5" tips.
[edit] Just realised you were after off the shelf tips, sorry.
Nah stone, don't care where they come from or if they are custom or not, just wanted to see some examples of what looks good.
Calais looks great by the way! I really dig the look of that exhaust, so it's just the standard 2.5" KPM?
Yeah, just KPM 2.5" cat-back with some other stuff in front of it. Check the link in my signature to see how it sounded with just the KPM. Juzo also has some good vids of how his sounded.
Yeh sweet...all I want is cat-back. With a tune and OTR, more than enough power for a cruiser.
Thanks for ya help.
Heres my KPM 3" on my ute, not bad i must say and sounds horn
This is how they look from behind crusing along
Enjoy
i got some 3.5 inch tips from my local muffler shop, rrp was $90 each ( i got them mutch cheaper!!) ill post a pic if ya want but they are the same beveled ends as the pics in troy711 post. simply grind the welds on your original tips, slide old ones off, push these ones on and weld in place. ill pm the shops details if you want.

Dont put this SH*T on You tube or nuthin ....
Yeah please mate, a pic would be great!
Don't quote me but isnt the calais v exhaust already a stainless steel twin 2.5" system? I have an 2008 calais v as well and when this damn tax money comes through i am repacing the rear mufflers with lukeys with some nice tips and the front with resonators/hotdogs...
stock is a 2.25 inch 409 stainless system. If you have a 6L, you'll be better off going for at least a 2.5 - and probably not a lukey one.
here is mine i just had a local exhaust shop replace the 4 xforce tips with these 3.5 inch ones
Mine look just like that!! Cheers jonssv, saved me putting a pic upThe 3.5 tips look heaps better!! changing to the G8 rear diffuser is also a great way to clean the rear end up..

Any idea on a brand or part number bonners?
No mate, sorry. But at the time, SC only had the one brand of tips. There mine, then same but chamfered. There was a few to choose from. It was just making sure they had 4....lol.
I can have a look again at SC and let you know. Could do it tonight.
Throw some cannons on the back... Wonder how that would sound lol
