Red face Why am i using so much fuel?

Hoping someone can help with an answer here,
My VE SV6 was using heaps of fuel so i did an oil change hoping it would change but it hasnt, it has all the right stuff in it but i was reading a thred the other day about an 'engine oil life percentage' and i checked that and its at 0% and should be at 99%, could this have something to do with it?

Any suggestions would be great thanks

Ignore the engine oil life percentage.

How much fuel is currently being used? And how much was being used before?

$50 gets me 2 and a half days around town. ive put a fuel system cleaner in it and everything.
i put $10 fuel in it yesterday avro, drove the 8kms home, then half way back this morning the fuel light was on again.
    its driving me nuts!

can u fill it till nothing will go in anymore, i thought the ve had a pretty big reserve so maybe thats why the fuel light is coming on so soon, cos ur only putting in the reseve amount... is that possible? lol just fill it to the top and run till empty and find out ur L/100k

around town it sits on 10L/100km on the highway shes sweet i can get it to 7.1L/100kms
I just dont know. i understand what your saying about the reserve tank but $50 in under 3 days is a bit rediculous considering im only going to and from work and its only a 15km trip either way

Full tank lasts me about 2 weeks going to work n back, about 45k's a day. And $50 only gets half a tank these days.
Check the obvious things like air filter, fuel leaks, service history etc.... How does it run ? Maybe just needs a new sensor somewhere

10L per 100 around town?? What's wrong with that! Gotta remember $10 of fuel is about 7 litres and doing city driving in a large sedan will go through this fairly quickly especially if it's e10 fuel

do you fill it up compleatly or just put in $50 when your low?, when its full you get a lot more out of the first 1/2 a tank than the last 1/2, i get over 400km for the first 1/2 and then about 220km for the last 1/2.

that is terrible consumption, but going by your litres/100km would suggest great consumption. you clearly have a leak or problem somewhere. I suggest you fill a jerry can, then drive that car with the fill light on till it conks out just to rule out if it's any sensor problem.

Around town i'm on around 17-19l/100kms in the SSV. I still only go to the pump around once a week. I can only dream of figures like your getting lol (unless a country run then i get around 8l/100kms)

Nah i dont use e10 i found it burnt way too quick, premium makes it run a heap better and i can get just under 10L/100km
It makes sence what glenn said about the 1st half and 2nd half, i do find when i have just over half to 3/4 if doesnt move much, ive heard that commodores have like a cone or pyramid shaped tank/resevior so the first half doesnt seem to move much but the lower u get the quicker the guage moves? Havent checked the air filter, i want to change it for a k&n but i cant find a listing, i work at supercheap auto and the supplier says they dont have one for it? any other good brands you can suggest?
im going to fill her right up this week and see how far i get.

But in your last post you said 10L/100ks? That should be more like 600ks per tank
