Default High flow intake on a v6?

    Hey all,

What do you think of the "high flow" air intakes?

That's all I have in mine at the moment - but if I'm honest, the only benefit I've found is that I don't have to go out and buy filters now.

Do you have to oil these? Or are they a dry filter?

Wouldn't mind getting one but don't like the idea of oiling an air filter. I think it would foul the MAF meter over time.

K&N are an oil filter and will need to be re-oiled when cleaned , if you are worried about the MAF you can get electrical contact cleaner from Dick smiths electronics, it is safe to clean the MAF with.

Normally i'm very good at feeling things through the car, and when I had my VZ alloytec and dropped in a K&N panel filter, nothing changed. As mentioned, it's only good in the long-run as to avoid purchasing paper ones. But considering its $67 and a paper one is $15, you will only break even after you would have replaced the filter after 4.5times.

When you re-oil the filter, just grab a can of MAF cleaner (SCA and the like have it) and clean the MAF while you're there

I went with BMC but like others have said I also didn't get much difference. saying that this is one of the easier and better things that should be done to every car. BMC is also oiled but as long as you read and follow the instructions carefully you shouldn't have any problems with your MAF

I used k&n on my old vs for 3 and half years no problems, my otr also has a oiled k&n filter and when i had a maf no problems either, so if u clean and re oil correctly you will have no trouble simple as that
