my IPAD Install PART 2.
Ok guys, most of you have seen my IPAD install in my VE commodore.
Now its time for Part 2.
Over the next few weeks im working on a number of things, some of these are
IPAD Control of Power Seats
IPAD control of Mirrors
POSS IPAD control of Windows
A few other things will probs end up being controlled but will see how i go.
And Maybe Remote Start Via the IPAD, This will be in conjunction with a Key Fob thingie that most new cars have.
To do all this, The ipad will talk wirelessly to a IR Sender, The IR Sender sends a signal to a IR Control Board or a few and then this runs into relay's and then the device.
Of course i will probs keep the original controls in place, this is just to see if its possible and waste some time
I will also be getting the new circuit board to intergrate the IPAD into the Steering wheel controls and driver screen.

HVAC is coming to the iPad very soon however I'm going to leave the LCD in there as backup and to use when gps and other apps are open .
I'm tossing up between keeping the leather look or going back to carbon fibre look. Thoughts??

Yep thats what im using with a few twists.
Are you willing to make any more of those facias for a price? I love the look and wish to do the same, just not quite as advanced as your looking at doing with your list above.

Hey mate and all asking me in pms for fascia's,
i will see how i go when i completely finish this project. While i want to make them and help you guys out there is alot of time that goes into hand making on of these so this would make a unrelistic price so in a few weeks i will approach some people and see if they want to take it on.

Can I gauge intrest in how many people would be interested in a plug and play kit for this setup.
I am by no means saying I'm going ahead with it but just seeing if it's worth while
Total cost is unsure but will exceed $2000
Very rough breakdown is
iPad $700
HVAC $450
Console surround $350 ( have to check with Holden)
Cables $100
Fascia ?? Around 300 plus depending on how many.

I'm just after the facia, surround and cables, already havevthe iPad and the hvac LCD. But definitely interested in this!!

Nice project mate, would be nice to see a little bit more work put into the software, because as far as I can see in your picture the guages are a bit stretched and look kidda out of it. Other than that it looks beaut.
IPad 1 and iPad 2 are the pretty much the same. All apple do is release a product with a brush aluminium back and then a few months later release a another one that is the same thing but with a gloss plastic backing that is a bit thinner and lighter.Oh, ok then
As for jailbreaking, its a very simple task that can be performed on either the iPad 1 or iPad 2 in about 10 minutes, so that really shouldn't be too much of a problem for potential buyers.

I agree they do look Stretched however this isn't the case in real life , have a look at the YouTube clip in the previous topic for a better idea. Once you buy this skin you can modify it for colour text logos etc
Reverse camera is something im playing with at the moment, its very hard to say the least but will see if i can get a result thats easy enough to install into cars.
Anything else people want to see?

Tested it tonight and works! I will have a camera on front, rear and sides of my car (if i find some nice tiny ones) and they can all be displayed all at once or individually!
Only thing i cant do is make it auto switch when you put it into reverse, hmmm will think some more on it. At the moment i will just have to click a button to open the app.

A nightvision/infrared front camera would be nuts but probably more hassle than it's worth.
How are you planning to do the cameras (via what app/hardware?), and yes you should do night vision with a small IR RED set up.

We are so far away yet so similar!! HVAC control is coming along with some extras (you will like). If you need any help with the relay controls let me know. Due to the nature of the seat/window/mirror controls, the motors will need "special" relays as the polarity switches depending on up/down or in/out.
