Hi All,
My hoses have been leaking (previous thread) and the other day the engine was borderline overheating so got it checked out and the hoses need replacing and the coolant flushing.. no big deal but.. i've been quoted around $370 to cut the hoses, replace with the new ones, new clamps (not the holden crap) and having the system flushed and pressure tested.
Is that about right as far as price goes?
No idea on the cost. I'd probably just go buy the hoses and coolant and do my own in an hour or two and save a heaps.
Where are they leaking? At the heater hose clamps? If so try prying off the crimp clamps and fitting normal worm drive hose clamps and see if that stops the leaks.
Silver Certified.
But don't you need to flush the system to prevent air locks?
Probably just need to bleed it.... ive never done it on a VE but it cant be that hard. That quote does seem wildly excessive for replacing some hoses and coolant
that's what i'm thinking .... i would say that it's just leaking from the clamps at the front and rear.
Change of plan! phoned holden and they are going to replace the fittings with the worm ones, flush the system and fill.. $175 and if they need to replace the hoses completely around $80.
All in all, half price of the local garage!
It got better - just picked it up and was ready to pay and he told me they have covered it under warranty!
Warranty sounds much nicer than $175 for a coolant change. 1 point goes to Holden.
