Default MUFFLER ELIMINATORS - are they any good?

COMMODORE VE 3" PERFORMANCE PIPES | eBay
OK so I've been looking at these mandrel bent 3" pipes with 3 1/2" tips on eBay for about $200. I've heard mix reviews on muffler eliminators/deletes.
It is unquestionable that they'll make the car sound louder, but I've heard that they make the car sound shit (the guy selling them reckons they'll give a sports sound.)
Does anyone know how they'll sound? Anyone installed these pipes before?

    Cheers!!

Sound wise, remove your rear mufflers and listen to it, if you like the noise then thats the exact same noise you will I THINK?

I had my rear mufflers of for a day or two, a while back, and they sounded pretty good to me at start when i started it and took it for a drive. Then the next day going coast i realised that they sounded shit and i hated it so i put my mufflers back on.

If you have just the Auto then the drone is horrile, triptonic is better but you get sick of doing it 24/7 , if you have manuel, id guess it would sound pretty good but you would have to cruise at high revs - (above 2500) as below it sounds horrible and drones way to much

From what i've heard, an alloytech with no mufflers with sound like a ricers fart canon.
But I really couldn't say from personal experience.

Just remove the exhaust, ONE and try it. if you like it then buy it, if not then you wouldnt have the thought of I WONDER HOW IT WOULD SOUND

    No harm in trying

@TinSnips how will it sound 'hideous', i.e. is it gonna sound like the cars about to die?

They just don't sound good at all without a muffler - I realise sound is a subjective thing - but not really in this instance.

Dont listen to the haters, do it. Just remember to smile at the 200 bucks you wasted every time you start your car.

Hussy watched the videos - sounds sooooooo bad !!!!
This is probably a dumb question but I'll ask it anyway. I've got the 60th Anniversary Omega (no mechanical mods done yet), if I were to find a 2nd hand SV6 muffler and connect it up would it be well any good I guess... err forget that what's the cheapest way to get a sports sound?

Yes much the same (volume/sound) as without the muffler on at all, however not quite as loud and much less vibration as the exhaust isn't pointed directly at your car. I personally have cut off dump pipes, I'd assume it would sound much like the straight pipes. As far as the drone you just have to work the throttle lol.

BTW i am talking about the SV6 with the twin pipes and not your omega so it may be a different case all together.
    Im a true commy boy!!!

    OP, dont do it.

Rear mufflers control most of the exhaust note you hear from a car, so straight through will a) be too loud, and b) sound like crap.
As already suggested, take your rear mufflers off and just listen. I did it when replacing mine (just to see what it would sound like).... best way to describe it would be Rice Cannon Crap.
Put that $200 towards sports mufflers mate, and let the suckers buy this dodgy ebay product.
