Hey everyone,
I have decided to buy a sportwagon, however, I am stuck between 2.
First 1:
2008 Calais Sportwagon
Colour: Nitrate
KMS: 71,636
Price: $30,888 drive away
One owner, tinted windows, dvd player, rev camera (I believe), full leather etc
VERY SEXY LOOKING
Second 1:
2010 SV6 Sportwagon
Colour: Nitrate
KMS: 38,714
Price: $30,888 drive away
18 inch Alloys
What I guess I am stuck with really is which is better value. As a single mum with 2 toddlers I really want a sportwagon, but I want to spend my money wisely.
Do I go for the one with less kms and later model? Or do I go for the one with all the options? Aaarrgghhhh!!!
Please help me!!!!
Jess
2010 sv6 is AWESOME!!! i know from experience!
Leather is not really needed, dvd is really not needed, reversing camera is good but does the sv6 have the rear parking sensors? thats all you need
Manual SV6 sportwagon would be my pick of the two every time.
Holden leather is pretty crap in my opinion. SV6 has the FE2 set up, which is handy if you don't intend to upgrade. Aftermarket tint is cheap - and better than factory - so you're not losing anything there.
Does the SV6 have the LSD option box ticked? If so, decision made!
I personally would go the SV6 because of LOWER Ks and newer model.
The only way i would go the calais would be depending on the extras, if there is MUCH more extra then i would consider the calais but aslo remember that a 2008 70Ks car will have more maintance problems then a 2010 with 40Ks so for your sake being a single mothe, i see the SV6 more suitable.
Goodluck with whatever you choose, you will be happy ether way![]()
Thanks heaps for help everyone! I will go for the SV6!
@ Tinsnips, what is LSD option? I cant see it, but will be asking about it tomorrow!
Thanks again, its what I was thinking, I just wasnt sure if the Calais whooped the SV6!!
tinny u cant get the sportswagon in manual in the sv6
Seriously????? Why on earth???? Clearly an oversight on Holden's behalf. Seems a shame to me.
It means Limited Slip Differential - but given that you apparently can't get a manual SV6 wagon (again - who the hell signed off on that????) I'm fairly certain that LSD was only an option on the manual variants. Not real up to date with V6 specs though, to be honest. So worth checking anyway.
not sure about the pre sidi but i asked for the manual when i ordered mine but they said they didnt make sidi manual sportswagons? and they wouldnt put a sunroof in....
The SV6 version features the High Output Alloytec V6 but only with the five-speed auto at $42,290.
well they didnt lie lol
crazy. What's the point of having a 'sport' option without making a manual available??
Moving on though, I think that's what's called a thread derail - sorry Jess. That's not really what you were asking about.
Ha! Thats cool! I was wondering if you could get a manual anyway because I havent come across one... You've answered that question for me too! Lol![]()
lol oh yeah appologies
SV6 = lower ks and newer. You have toddlers so leather seats would be better, but you could always just get seat covers to minimise the damage!
If your gonna spend 30k and slightly leaning towards the calais.... then spend the same amount of money on one of these:
2008 SSV Sportwagon (the v pack - so leather, screen etc..) and in one of the best colours - only $34,000 on 40,000ks!

2010 sport wagon - vooodo only $4k more..

SS Sportwagon - 53km only $29,000!

That's just a quick look on carsales.
DO NOT buy a wagon without reverse camera!!!
I couldnt live without mine now.... and there's no aftermarket option better than OEM fitted. They could charge double and I'd still get it.
Also, I got an International (with leather) and originally I thought meh... it's a bonus but I dont really need it. I got young ones in the back.... SOOOOOO much easier to clean mate. Fabric soaks up everything. Leather allows just a quick wipe and its clean. Just put on a little leather protector every now and again and she's sweet!
gotta remember you have young kids, the dvd player will be a hit for them...and even better for yourself on long trips! the only thing that would tilt me towards the Sv6 would be factory warranty, the k's on the sv6 are of a higher average, SIDI or non isnt really that much of a difference and the calais is straight out nicer.
Yo.
Thanks everyone!
Things changed pretty quickly today when I learnt that both of the above cars were ex rentals... I have always been told never to buy one and I have a few mates that always joke about rentals, "whats the only car that will do 100km backwards?? A rental"
Anyway, I ended up getting an ex GMH exec car with 12,500kms on the clock. Its a 2010 SV6 in Poison Ivy. I paid $34,000 and they took my 98 VT as well, so i think it was a reasonable price?!?!
I am getting tint put on tomorrow and a reverse camera installed, that will be connected into the rear view mirror.... I hope Ive done alright...?!?!
Thanks again for all your help!
Thanks Tinny!
The colour rocks!!
Cant wait to pick it up...![]()
@ Hussy SV6 - The sportwagon!!! I love the shape and had my heart set on one!
You've done well.... welcome to the Sportwagon familyThe sportwagon!!! I love the shape and had my heart set on one!.
Make sure you set up your own thread in the VE Rides section (and wack the link up in your signature)!
Poison ivy is mint, i love that colour in the wagons.
Nice pick up. My calais is also ex gmh and is the only way to buy them imo. Make sure you start a thread for your ride once you get it.
Enjoy.
