hey guys i was just wondering if anyone has sprayed their holden badges and SV6/SS badges green?
Im waiting on the black and green numberplates from the RTA. (if you havent seen them there is an example below).
So really i was wanting my badges to match the plates... Thoughts ?
NO badges would look best imo
If in doubt......FLOOR IT!!!
i thought of it but if you take off the front badge youre left with the badge shape still.. and ive looked, i dont think anyone makes a plain grill yet. Apart from the VK grill that fits from HDT but its like $380.
Black and Green is a good combo, im doing it myself except opposite . Green car with black parts
But simiilar to you a guy named BONNERS on thsi forum has done some things so you might wana check his thread. He doesnt have green holden badges but he has green stripe, green brakes and his SS badges painted green.
There stuck on there by glue. Dental Floss, a hair dryer and a bit of elbow grease will get them off in minutes.
this is for a VT but same concept applys. Debadge your car in 10 minutes, WARNING dial up users
As for painting, i wouldnt have a clue. You could do a home cheap job and just dip it into some paint :P but i do remember someone on this forum wrapping the MIDDLE section in BLACK vinyl so you could do it in green? Good Luck champ
ok thanks mate. Its just getting it back on that might be a problem...
Easy enough to paint - simple as sand, prime, paint and clear. Treat yourself to new badges though and ditch the old ones - that way you don't have to stuff around with trimming the mounting tape on your existing badges. Paint the new ones up - de-badge and re-badge in one swift, stealth manoeuvre. The car won't know what hit it.
sounds good but how do i re apply the badges?
If you buy new badges, they come with the tape already fixed to them - just peel the backing paper off and stick them on (wipe over the paint first with IPA: Demineralised water at 1:1 first)
awesome... green badges, i hope they look good.
ow and i just got a set of black Advanti Chopper 20's
thats what i was thinking, just painting the black parts in the SV and then the lions
green lion badges might be too much - try one and see how it goes - I'd be inclined to ditch the rear one though and make the front one black. The green on the number plate and the green on the SV should be enough to carry the them
Just don't remove the rear holden badge(the one on the boot) unless you have a direct replacement. the earlier ones on VE's apparently have 2 holes underneath it.
Don't quote me.
Im a true commy boy!!!
^^ correct - seems 06 and early 07 sedans had locating holes - not sure why.. the badges don't use them.
mine is an 08 ute. do you think ill be right?
I've never come across a ute with locating holes. Should be fine. Not a massive deal if there is, you just need to stick a badge back on. 99% sure that they never put the locating holes on the VE utes or wagons though. Just the early sedans.
i might give this a go this arvo. getting that stick residue off is an easy job?
i remember with my VS getting the sticky stuff off the rubber door trim was a task and a half.
you"ll be fine,I agree with tinny though, no lion badge on the tailgate and a black one on the grille looks neat. It's what I've done.now I get guys wanting me to do theirs lol. The residue is not hard. Several ways to remove it, either get some eucalyptus oil and soak the residue let sit for a minute the wipe/ or gently roll/ rub with your fingers. There is a liquid called disolve it- I think it's called which you can get from supacheap or bunnings.
im out of my mind at the moment...please leave a message
Paint your brakes green aswell. Would look mint.
Prepsol works well - just make sure you wash it off properly and don't let it dry on the paint - or 3M adhesive remover is fantastic. Stoner's Tarminator will work well and so, most likely, will white spirits. I've seen some instances where eucalyptus oil has left the paint a little dull - no doubt extreme misuse - but I'm always hesitant in using it.
Fishing line or dental floss will work well to cut through the adhesive. And a little heat from a hair dryer won't hurt things - steer clear of heat guns though.
