Hey guys, I have a 2010 series 2 manual ute.
My problem is when I am driving I have this rattle coming from the engine or exhaust. I'm thinking it's a heat shield or the baffles in my exhaust. The problem only comes when you rev past 4500 rpm and you can hear it alot better when the windows are closed. For example ; if I'm cursing at a constant speed and slip it into neutral and then rev past 4500 rpm the rattle occurs. My brothers car does the same thing so I'm not sure if it's a problem or not but it definitely doesn't sound healthy.
Could I get any other owners to try this and see if they get the same noise/rattle?
Oh and I don't drive around like a tool revving my car for no reason and my car is also 100% stock.
Car is also booked in for thursday morning to get checked out.
Cheers
any chance you could post a video of the noise? i'd be curious to hear it and might be able to point you in right direction.
Some people have issues with the heat shields rattling. I think a few have even had it fixed under warranty.
Would depend on dealer though, because pretty sure I read somewhere in manual that squeeks and rattles arent covered under the warranty.
Nothing to lose by trying though.
I've had that many rattles and squeaks looked at under warranty, it is ridiculous. However, I believe that it is actually a clause with the utes - though is referring to in-cabin noises thanks to the lack of sound proofing. Though to me, a rattle is a rattle is a rattle. A loose or poorly fitted heat shield should certainly be covered.
I had a rattle that would occur at around 1500-1750 rpm on my last car (was 10yr old) wasnt the heatsheild, was the inside of the cat came loose and was rattling around :P Nothing a screwdriver and hammer didnt fix![]()
I'm having trouble loading a soundclip, is it possible that I could email a member the sound clip to post up here for me? Thanks
i have just got the car back from holden and they have acknowledge that there is a noise but they dont know where it is coming from. it could possibly even be normal but it definetly does not sound normal. can i email anyone a soundclip to post on here for me?
thanks
