Hi guys,
I drive a 2007 VE Lumina.
I am lead to believe it came with standard reverse sensors.
I can see the 4 sensors on the rear bumper, yet they have never beeped when I put the car in reverse. (Let alone when I get close to objects)
Is it possible they are turned off? Or does this seem like a malfunction?
Have you gone into the setup on the console?
Check the wiring in the boot - if it has been in an accident, it may be disconnected.
Put it in reverse with objects close (50 cm) from sensors - should start beeping.
Other possibility is that if the head unit has been replaced, the input may have been droppedvand therefore won't work.
If you have just got the car, take it back and get it repaired under warranty.
Towbar fitted? Could be faulty cover on the trailer plug as the cover disables the park assist when its open. Should be a small maget stuck to the inside of the cover, if thats gone it will need replacing.
Silver Certified.
Was a magnet but they removed the N to save weight and improve fuel economy.
Silver Certified.
Heh, I chuckled.
OP, IIRC the family's old VE Calais had an option to do with towbars etc in the menu. The family has moved to an FG Falcon now so i could be getting these mixed up, but worth checking the menu (the VE has it built into the head unit, versus the FG which has menus in the instrument cluster). Worth checking your user guide too, under reverse sensors or towbar.
