Hey everyone,
I'm currently in the process of installing a sound system into my ute. I want to mount the two amplifiers (Alpine PDX) in each seat and just wondering how you go about taking them out. I have seen both sides have plugs with wires and I just want to see what you have to do to remove the seats safely without tampering with anything.
Any help would be grateful and look forward to your replies and thank you in advance
Cheers,
Barnzy
I would assume there are Allen key bolts in the floor. Should be as simple as unplugging the cabling, unbolt and remove.
If there are airbags you may need to remove fuse, disconnect battery etc. Otherwise, there may be a trip to Holden to get the console reset.
You can't slide the seats forward and mount the amps against the rear wall?
Do a search within the forum on seat removal - there are posts on airbags in seats and seats in other models. Should be enough info to then make an educated decision.
I disconnected the battery first, then the wires in the seat. No airbags in mine, but disconnected the power just to be on the safe side. Then just unbolted it (passenger seat only) from the floor. Not hard so much as a pain in the arse.
Just wondering what the method is for removing the plastic trim around the seat frames...?
Ah bummer, so what exactly did you do to remove them?
While we are on the topic of seats!
If I unplug the wiring under my seats will it remove the annoying beeping when the seat belt isn't plugged in?
Or will it also affect other things as well?
Some people say less talk more action, i say more torque less traction.

The removal of the airbag fuse also dissengages the seatbelt alert. But i wouldnt recommend this unless you are running race seats with harnesses. The fuse will make all your airbags inopertable. And no one should be driving with out a seatbelt on the road.

If you havent done this yet
The VE has two bolts at the back that you need to undo. Make sure you remove the Airbag Fuse and disconect the wiring to the seats. I have removed these seats several times to put my race seats in then back to original seats.
Remove the trim this is tricky and if not careful can break easily. Once the Bolts have been removed tilt the Seat forward the front is on a hook system and then pull back and they will slide out of the holder.
Be carefull it is a bit tricky to get the drivers seat out the door and you can scratch and damage paint work and trim.
Reversal for putting them back in.
