Default VE Radio Faceplate, Swapping and Programming

    Hi everyone.
Just a quick question, If you swap the radio faceplate, for another faceplate (of the same type), do you need to get the radio re-programmed ?

For example, if you swapped a Calais colour LCD screen Radio faceplate with a SS-V colour screen Radio faceplate, would that be plug and play, or is the VIN number stored in the faceplate ?

Cheers and thanks for the help guys

You can swap them and all that will work is the HVAC controls. You will get a security message across the LED screen.

The new screen has to be recoded to your vehicles VIN etc. Holden can do this and there are probably other as well. In Sydney, Sideshow Performance in Gilba Rd, Girraween maybe about to help.

You need to replace more than just the faceplate. You need to replace the entire headset

Calais to SSV is only the front facia. The big metal box behind the facia already has the HVAC dual zone climate controls etc.

If you have say and SS or Sv6 and want to have the LCD display and Dual zone climate controls you'll need the different HVAC system (big metal box).

    All will need reprograming.
