Go faster
Handle & Stop better
Spread your budget between both
Hey Guys,
So after having my SSV for a few months now (falling in love with the car) & doing a round trip to & from Melbourne, I can really feel the car starting to loosen up. I'm now more used to the power & torque of the car. I'm at now at the point where I think I'm ready to start upgrading the car further in terms of performance.
I'm now thinking about the pros & cons of making the car quicker or making the car handle & stop better. I'm tossing up on these options & variations of them.
Budget wise, I'm willing to spend the money to make me happier with the car.
1. Ditch my 2.5 Xforce catback & CAI, get an OTR, a top notch exhaust & do a suspension & brake upgrade.
2. Ditch my 2.5 Xforce catback & CAI, do the OTR, exhaust, go all out & supercharge/turbocharge.
3. Keep my 2.5 Xforce catback & CAI, do a suspension & brake upgrade, decide how much more power I think the car can handle with it's new setup.
I'm fairly certain I want to ditch my Xforce exhaust. It's fine around town but highway driving is torture.
At the moment the winning combination in my mind is a VCM/KPM/Orssom OTR, KPM/VCM/Difilippo exhaust, tune, suspension & brake upgrade. At the end of the day I know it's about what my preferences are & how I drive. I know big brakes are probably a little overkill for everyday usage, but hell, so is a supercharger!
What do you think?
Option 1 gets my vote. Gets rid of your headache on the highway - and lets the thing handle much better which, to me, is way more important.
Option 1.
Pretty much any option that involves keeping the xforce was immediately off the table.
When, there is nothing worse then a car with heaps of power and no handling/stopping performance.
The winning combo should look a little like this:
DUSPEED OTR, Manta exhaust system, suspension upgrade all round and some BIG brakes. Keep in mind that the BIG brakes and going to be BIG in price too.
Since you have a yellow car, I think if you could get your hands on some brakes that have BIG yellow calipers it would look sensational.
The manta exhaust system, youtube it as there is a few videos of them up there and when you've finished drooling get in touch with Not_An_Abba_Fan as he's the man to talk to in regards to those.
Suspension wise, probably see GSLRallySport (Sponsor of this forum) as they know their shit and have good prices.
Good luck!
Decide how much power you are going to want then upgrade the brakes, as you dont want to have to do them again later.
Are you going coilovers with the suspension?
Get a dual 3" when upgrade the exhaust and once you have finished your engine mods get a tune (at the end, unless you find a tune that will do slight tweeks as you add to your engine mods)
H4Z4RD speak to GSL rallysport as they have a sale on suspension right now!
VT V6 fitted with DMS gold 40mm coilovers, Whiteline adjustable swaybars & strut brace, 330mm AP racing brakes, Rebuilt 3.45:1 LSD and a Powerdyne supercharger

I'm at that dilema now to. I have already done the OTR, Tune, diff gears, springs and full 3" difillipo exhaust. It's now a toss up between doing the cam or upgrade brakes...Im 80% on the brakes now, then cam later.
For the record, the Difilipo exhaust is fkn sex on wheels.
If I had my time again, I would of done the brakes first then the power, as I am starting to find it hard to pull up in some situations. Safety is number 1
Option 4 : Upgrade to OTR and better exhaust and go supercharger/turbo plus cam and suspension and brakes
Realisticly id go option 1
I would go with suspension, and brakes, but maybe not in that order.
I dont have to worry about eitherWouldnt mind a good tune, and that would do me.
I can only recommend VCM as that's what is on my car. I also got bilstein and H&R springs from them and car awesome to drive. For my wagon, if I had to redo the suspension, I probably get the H&R coilovers!
Cheers
Otr and tune first.
Brakes second.
