Hi,
I am looking at purchasing a red and black auto leather gear knob from the dealer for $70 to replace my current one. Before I purchase it does anyone know and advise if this is an easy process to replace an auto gear knob. Any instructions would be useful.
Here is a link of the same one on ebay if this helps -Genuine Leather Auto Gear Knob for Holden VE Commodore | eBay
Thanks
I fitted one two years ago. I believe there is a screw that holds it on located at the front of it. You need to put the stick as far back as it goes to get to the screw.
Thanks. What do you mean by pulling back the stick as far back as posiible to get to the screw? It seems like I need to remove the plastic trim around the gear stick to get to this screw. Is that correct?
From what I remember when I did mine, I put mine in d then u pop the button out by levering from the top with a small screw driver and then u can access the screw and clip to release it. The whole thing only takes a couple of minutes once you know how to do it. Hope this helps mate.

Thanks rum87 I'm nearly there I was able to access the screw and undo it. But I am unable to locate the clip to remove the entire knob. Can you please explain?
It's been 12months since I've done it but I recall it was a metal c clip sorta thing near the base of the back case that comes off after you remove the screw. I think that's what locks it on. Hope that helps
