Default Front driver side indicator bulb access

HTF are you supposed to replace the front DS indicator bulb without pulling the light assembly out? Unfortunately I am not a double jointed elf with hands the size of a baby - my normal man sized mitts cannot reach deep enough to even touch the indicator bulb cover, let alone grab/twist/remove it. I've removed the coolant reservoir filler tube, but still no go. Between the looms and small access holes in the front right corner of the car, I can't see how to reach it. Is there a trick I am missing? Jack the car up and remove the wheel and plastic inner guard shield? Am I just thick and have missed something really simple???

The side indicators slide out I think I read somewhere here. you dont have to do it from the inside.

This one is no fun. Been there recently.

If you remove the dust cover (twist and turn) off the headlights, you'll have a bit more space to work in.
Front wheel drive cars are the work of the Devil.

Agreed. I had the same problem, and that made the difference between being able to get my hand in and not. I would like to emphasise one little helpful hint from the owners manual -"Note: Take care not to drop the dust cap into the engine compartment". I was reciting all the way through "dont drop the dust cap, dont drop the dust cap, dont drop the ... D'OH!"

I fished around with a coat hanger for ages, before I gave up and had to remove enough of the wheel arch trim to be able to retrieve it. Not recommended!
