Hey all,
Im from Wollongong NSW area and was wanting to know if anyone has had good/bad experiences with any suspension places around here? Or anywhere you would recommend?
My wheels come next week and am hoping to get it lowered this week too (I already have the springs SSSL front & SSL rear), im assuming the install price would be around $250-$350 for the springs and $50 for wheel alignment?
Thanks.
Should be able to do it for less than that. Depending on the cost (and quality) of the alignment, You should be able to get it done for 250-300. When my springs went in, I got the alignment done elsewhere - so cost me $270 all up.
Just got quoted by a local mechanic $195 for the springs to be installed so i'm happy with that.
Didnt bother gettings quotes from other places, would rather him do it and get all my stuff done there in future.
Thanks TinSnips for the estimate
Do you know any decent places for a wheel alignment?
Heasman's steering in Sydenham or Wholesale at Penrith are both good. I get them pretty regularly and go all over, depending on where I'm getting things done. Had good ones and bad ones... more bad ones. I had some new bushes put in the front end, so will be getting another wheel alignment on Wednesday with some new tyres - will let you know how that goes. Not really familiar with workshops down your way though mate.
I have one regular mechanic who will also fit and install things - but alignments and such are done offsite, so I get them done separately.
Do it yourself... If you can jack your car up you can remove and install springs yourself!
not worth the hassle.... $50 a corner to have it done for yoy is a no-brainer. get a wheel alignment and away you go!
I was going to, but i'd have to go buy spring compressors, and I want it done properly/get to know the mechanic some more and get other things done there in the future.
For $195 im happy to pay that instead of me doing it
Cant wait though.. getting the springs done the same day as im putting the 20's on.
If you find someone who does a good wheel alignment stick with them!! They're bloody hard to find, I've had a few bad ones.
I'd probably leave getting a wheel alignment done for a couple of thousand km. The springs will obviously settle and it will put it all out again.
^ good point about springs settling and requiring another wheel alignment, but I'd still get the first one as soon as new springs are in anyway... think about the height difference from stock to new springs, vs new springs and then settling in difference. its much more important to get it done asap, and less so when they settle. twice would be ideal, but i wouldnt drive around on new springs with no wheel alignment. handling would suck, braking would be affected, and tyre wear would be bad.
As above - I would be getting the alignment done when they go in - Everything will be out of whack just by unbolting everything that's needed to fit the springs, not just because of the drop in height.
