Was just interested on knowing what fuel most people use? and if they notice better fuel economy.
I used to fill up with 91octane then a premium but noticed some terrible results on fuel usage, Im now using Shell V Power where ive done 500kms for just under half a tank left. Havnt used BP ultimate yet but will on my next fill up.
Now before you guys get upset because this question has been asked so many times, the last thread on this was years ago so im starting it again!
caltex, vortex 95
i found that unleaded (91) at 7/11 gave me the best fuel efficiency. I usually put 95 in, or 98 if its really cheap or i have an event.
well the amount of kms im getting at the moment out of the more expensive fuel will definatly work out chepaer in the long run, id usually be filling up in the next 50kms with 91octane, but i think ill be getting another 200+kms out of the current fuel tank
due to my fuel card restriction I am locked into Caltex/Woolies/Safeway and have just swaped to vortex98 and have noticed a 0.5-0.7l/100 improvement over vortex95 so at 3-4c/l extra it costs me <$3/tank yet I think I get an extra 50Km out of a tank which is takes about 4L which costs about $6 so in my head its more effecient to run vortex98. I have never ran 91 or E10 but i beleive this to be worse in fuel economy.
yeah ill definatly be giving caltex a try as well
yeah i won be judging the best fuel on 1 full tank x3 and see if theyre similar is what ill be doing, with the kms im getting at the moment i might have a answer in a few months!
LPG. Getting 550km to 70 litres half freeway half city. Cammed auto VE
vortex 98, also cammed auto.
seems like alot of people are using caltex vortex 98, ive actually never filled up at a caltex but have plenty of caltex servos around where i drive i think im going to have to pop my cherry and fill up at caltex!!
My wagon is tuned to vortex 98 as the other fuels are unpredictable, my tuner has tried to tune all fuels in alot of cars and this was found to be the best. But fuel around my area will be different to fuel anywhere else depending how often the servos clean there tanks, lines etc.
My suggestion ask the most experienced tuner around your area.
TELLING IT HOW IT IS SINCE 1982
Hey all any1 used the new bio fuel from caltex for seriesII Ve's?
yeah ive used it HDT (i have the SIDI series 1) didnt notice much difference from normal 91 unleaded except price
BP Premium (95). BP have the best refined fuels and 95 is the best octane for the Buick motors. Plus BP is the closest servo and nice and new![]()
LPG![]()
Gas mostly but I always use BP Ultimate for the petrol side of things the tuner told me it was the most reliable out of all of them.

Yes I know, if you get anymore manly you are in danger of making yourself pregnant!
5VZ SS 5.7, Shell vpower 80% freeway 20% highway get 630ks to a tank. If it matters 6speed manual
680kms jus under a quarter of a tank left! been moving house so done plenty of driving over the weekend!
At 10.7L/100km - thats at a average speed of 45km/hLead foot treatment quite a lot driving through sydney, and with x3 people + sub + x2 luggage cases that were 40kg each.
BP Ultimate full tank every Friday, same pump, same time, same servo attendant haha :P
I usually use caltex 98 or shells 98 due to the fact I can usually get them cheap.
Bp is never cheap for me.
I avoid the United brand now though. A few separate tanks of that have down a drastic decrease in mileage for me.
Caltex vortex- for the petrol side of things, but mostly LPG.
sounds like you have OCD? lol
