    Default VE SV6 mufflers.

    Hey guys,

I recently just had a set of berklee rear mufflers put on my sv6. Im sorry to say but it sounds horrible. I wasn't expecting too much from it but ive heard some decent ones on here and on youtube but i would say mine is the worst by far lol. It sounds like a lancer and drones like a b!tch!.
Just wondering if anyone strongly reccommends any sort of brands particularly for the sv6's. There doesn't seem to be a massive range out there, mainly redback and xforce?
My car goes back to the exhaust shop to have the hotdog/crimp section replaced with straight through pipe so i might get him to just whack my old mufflers back on for now and weld quad tips on to those. Could this be my best option?
By the way my car is the non-sidi version. Auto.

    Cheers guys!

Did you get the V8 or V6 Berklees? I've the 8 ones on mine and yes below 1600RPM they also reverb. Might want to wait until they carbon up a bit too. Oh I had the crimped section replaced with a tru-x pipe to draw from the mid muffler alters the sound too.

yeah my car goes to the shop tomorrow to have the hotdog/crimp section taken out. i asked about a x pipe but the bloke at the exhaust shop said the mid muffler acts the same as an x pipe so its unnecessary. does removing this section make a big difference to tone/volume/drone?
and yeah i got the v8 berklees. got them from best mufflers. originally wanted the powerflow mufflers but they dont stock those anymore they said.

Nope ....removing the crimps will make no difference to the sound or drone and yes the mid-pipe does in a way do the same as the xpipe. I had the xpipe put in to scavange from the mid muffler in an attempt to keep the rear cans fuller. In effect I think the double x in the system improves the sound of the V6. The Berklee rears are quite quiet which is why I purchased them as didn't want the family car to loud. I have often thought I'd like to have the mid muffler removed and replaced with another x-pipe closer to the extractors to increase the volume a little but have not been game to mess with something that is currently OKish (other than the sub 1600RPM drone)

so i got the hotdogs/crimp section replaced. i think it does sound a lot better/louder in the high revs, but the flip side of that is that it also makes the drone louder lol. does anybody have any mufflers on their sv6 auto's where they get no drone at all? I would love to have a decent note from my sv6 but would rather have a silent rider then put up with the drone. if worst comes to worst i might just put the old mufflers back on and get quad tips welded on. guy at the shop quoted me $180 for two sets of tips and fitting.

I've got pacemaker stainless steel mufflers on my car, paid abit more but theres no drone. Most people seem to like the redback mufflers so might be something to think about.
