hey guys,
i want to make my 6cyl berlina sound like its got some balls without spending too much money...any ideas on a cheap simple way to give me a nice note??
im just gonna stick an sv6 exhaust on mine.
Was going to do my VE, but have been scared off by all the horror drone story's i have heard. I am yet to hear a v6 that impresses me. Which is a shame.
Muzzz89, could have a good suggestion there, sounds like a reasonable option.
Cheers from Mike.
the sv6 exhaust doesnt sound like anything at all, lol
i only want the sv6 exhaust for the twin aspect, i think my car would look horn with duels
Well one thing that you shouldnt do is.......put a cannon on the end. Saw a VE Omega, totally stock bar the massive cannon on there. Sounded like arse hole
no longer a hoon by association - the commodore is gone
hahah funny. Also dont just remove the rear muffler. That hurts your ears
I have a photo of that omega with a cannon ill load it into the funny pic thread later

Months in searching from place to place for mods, updates, and general info and it's finally done. Well this part is anyway. So for all you asking for more to be available for the SIDI engines, here it is.
One obstacle out of the way. The exhaust system.
Personally i reckon it was a wise move to get the full system worked on,due to the overall performance and the lumpy idle result which i wanted ( a little like a v8 ) the only thing i had an issue with was leaky joints which were fixed up today. Still under acceleration there is a sound accompanying the lower rumble which is moreso like a slight faint rattle higher pitched, light snarly noise. After speaking to Darren and taking him for a drive, he mentioned that this can happen with long headers in place, something to do with ports firing and sending pulses through the pipes and that being clearly audible as the pipes are longer, also something to do with the cats themselves. He mentioned that he could probably get rid off the noise, but would have to remove the whole system and block it up, from what I understood, not something I would want done.
Overall, very quiet system compared to the straight muffler swap i had before. I found that the previous mufflers were too loud with the new 2.5 inch, hence it being a reason i swapped out the rear mufflers as well for Darrens. There is absolutely no drone at all (and i'm not exadurating either, NONE AT ALL) in the cabin. All you can hear is the engine bay growling, and the exhaust itself. Full acceleration noise is something to have an acquired taste for, as you all know the alloytech tend to start screaming after a certain rev range, much like the good old v-tech hondas( i know, i've had one).
Fuel consumption on urban/"fun" driving will increase, although generally speaking if you are /worried about that, you can still drive lightly and get your range to be at around 700K + mark (freeway/light urban)
I've mentioned to him that there may be several people interested in it, and if he knows the rough ball park area of the system. He will know more in detail as he does his first production run in several weeks, but the price may well be bellow 3k for the full setup.
long headers,cats,2.5inch mid section and quad mufflers.
I'll get that video up tomorrow for you.
Wow, it's nice to see someone else actually going through with it all and putting it up here man. Top work loook forward to hearin the video to see how it goesThanks man
Good to hear your happy with the new exhaust, Darren's exhaust's are very well made & sound absolutly horn aswell. Darren's also a top bloke to boot aswell, took the time to speak to me when i had a couple of issues regarding my exhaust(clearance height) & even fixed it up for me for no charge aswell.
Still sounds like a ricer though.... Only problem, with Alloytecs![]()
everything but an 8 always will, but at least we can try and make it as pleasing as possible. I suppose at the end of the day gains are more appreciated than the sound itself.
Wow, the first break through. Top result car sounds great, would like to see what the output is.
hey guys, wondering if anyone knows anyhting about pacemaker doing extractors for the 3.6L sidi, i've been bugging them about it but no reply as yet
thats sounds nice but i got my mufflers changed in my sidi ute for$600 dollars and think it sounds roughly the same here is a vid also no drone

metalpledge: sounds good. Di Filippo's are around the same price. What you're not taking into consideration though that the mod was not for mufflers only, but for the entire exhaust dude for a bit of a performance improvement along with the sound. Swapping mufflers only will not give you any benefits other other than deeper note considering that the rest of the exhaust piping is blocked up from the factory, worst design being in the headers themselves where they immediately merge into one pipe.
chandler: I spoke to them a while back, this was couple of months ago. They said that it was in research and development and should be available towards the end of the year.
sv666: yeah i was meant to go past today for the dyno, but had to service the car instead. Asked them to remove the engine light, they told me they would need to retune the computer which would cost around 1500 lol. Said not to worry about it.
awesome, cheers mate, is massed apreeshed
now anyone had anything to do with the Xforce Varex tips on a SV6??
I got pacies up front (extractors) and the full xforce 2.25 system with the varex rear mufflers and the sound is awesome. only issue is fully opened there is a drone between 2400 rpm and 2600rpm. When the thing is closed you cant here a damn thing from anywhere its awesome and the misses stays happy![]()
